Would You Buy Cigarettes For Your Friends?
by Englishman inwhen i go abroad, my smoking friends often ask me to bring cigarettes home with me.
they can be purchased for a fraction of the price in france and the savings on a few hundred cigarettes can be quite considerable.. i always refuse.
it makes me feel a bit priggish to do so, but i don't feel good about aiding someone to continue with a life threatening habit.. now i feel better!.

I don't have any friends that do smoke, my brother likes his wacky baccy but that's about it.
Still, the friends I do have I care about and I wouldn't buy them fags either. -

Autumn Leaves
by core in.
last year here in uk we had gorgeous autumn with beautiful leaf colouring - this year - after a very wet summer - cant see any real sign of "autumn colour" - just drab winter setting in .
anyone got any nice autumn pics (canadian scenes especially) to brighten up the day - ??

No chance of lovely Autumn colours this year thanks to the miserable Summer we had.
Tony Blair must have sold off the sunshine or something. :) -

restoring my plaster walls - any suggestions?
by RevMalk inwhen i first bought my home, i had planned on putting drywall over the lathe and plaster walls that exist now.. after thinking it over, i decided to restore the plaster to keep the home original.
that and the fact that the cherry molding would have to be removed on the first floor and i really don't want to do that.. anyway, i have been scraping the paint and paper off the walls and the plaster is actually in really good shape aside from a few areas.. the worst thing is that in a few spots the plaster is not attached to the lathe any longer.
the plaster is ok, but you can push it in and out from the lathe.. does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix that problem without ripping the plaster off?.

Once the plaster has come away from the laths the best thing to do is
remove and re-plaster. Been there, done that with my 250+ year old house.
It's a pain in the arris but to do a good job it's the only way. -

Gouging the customer is what it's all about these days. Selling a quality product and providing a fair service is mostly a thing of the past.
These days it's cheaper to just sling the tool and buy a new one. -

First call, as little time and as infrequently as I could get away with, an hour, maybe a touch more, when I did it.
Regular return visits, a couple of hours twice a month.
Cat Publishers they called those who just did an hour, "I've done 'me hour' and I am off". :p -

JW Wrongdoers Unable To Pray?
by Englishman in.
my dad, who was po of several different largish congregations at varying times, sat on a number of jc's during his lifetime.. he maintained that alleged wrongdoers confessed to being unable to pray to jehovah between committing the actual sin and appearing before a jc.. he told me that this was invariably the case and that confessing wrongdoers felt a great sense of relief after appearing before a jc because they were able to pray once more.. totally unable to pray..psychological, perhaps?.

I couldn't be bothered to pray after a couple of years, it felt like a waste of time. Why would Jehavah need to hear from me all the time, he must get sick of it. :)
