Dream On, Brother [and Sister], Dream On!!!
by Rapunzel in) is any one here capable of remembering his/her dreams?.
) does anyone believe that dreams - and the analysis/interpretation of dream - provide a "key" to solve any of life's problems?
can the analysis/interpretation of one's dreams be therapeutic?.

I can usually remember my dreams. They are usually pretty good, better than anything hollywood can do. :) If I have a dream which ends badly I sometimes have the same dream a few months later and change the ending to make it a happy one.

"Trying to get former JW's to work together is like herding cats"
by Mickey mouse inotwo said this on the "suing the tower" thread.. why is this?
i have noticed it also.
i wonder whether some people would not be comfortable with the idea of a world without the watchtower?

Because people who have developed the ability to resist 'groupthink' and authoritarian control carry that over into the rest of their lives and tend to be more sceptical and resistant to being told what they should and should not think or do.

My mum told me about it. I said "yeah I know, if you'd have paid attention when I was talking to you last week you would have known too!" :) The best bit though, the reason for the change.......wait for it.....armageddon is just around the corner, oh dear.

Your most memorable Kingdom Hall meeting disruptions!
by easyreader1970 ini remember about twenty years ago some teenagers were caught fornicating in one of the additional schools.
the schools were downstairs, essentially separated from the rest of the kh.
they weren't just happened upon, though.

At a local JW wedding one of the guests sons, who has downs syndrome, spotted a couple of Super Soakers in the back of a car. During the service he slipped out and grabbed one, came in the KH and proceeded to drench the entire front row of guests.

So what caused you to have doubts in the first place?
by nicolaou ini had no doubts at all about the 'truth' untill a friend of mine in the cong' began falling away.
in trying to help him i had to ask questions and do research and that of course cracked the doors of my mind open for the first time in over thirty years.. years ago, when jwd allowed members to have signatures, i used the following quote from voltaire as mine.
i still love it.. doubt is uncomfortable, certainty is ridiculous..

Not long after I was dunked I started to have questions. An elder in his 70s offered to study with me. He had studied with one of the original old time JW's, one of the 'remnant'. The elder owned a whole library of old JW book that this old time JW had left him in his will. I read some of these and to be honest it seemed like another religion. So much for the 'truth' always being constant. This was the catalyst for my 15 year long slow exit.

Accessibility to guns to blame for violence?
by 5thGeneration inwith all the talk about the increased violence in schools and among society, it still surprises me that the accessibility to guns argument often tends to trump the cultural argument.. maybe i'm out of touch but showing saw iii uncut on hbo at 10pm and releasing the most violent video games in history and the marketing of violent and perverse music, these are the things to me that desensitises young people first and then may trigger some hurt and unstable kids long before they go and buy a gun.. okay, ready to be blasted (pardon the pun)!.

The problem is that the kind of people who WANT to own a gun are exactly the type who should never ever be allowed within 100 feet of a gun.

Counselling (in the UK)
by Mickey mouse ini am considering counselling as i feel i am slipping into a black hole with all of this and could really do with talking it all over with an indepenent "real person" without fear of it coming back to bite me if you know what i mean?
i am still in, considering my options but my head is a mess.
sometimes i think this place can be bad for me (although really i know it's the kh that's the problem .

After a particularly painful split with a gf combined with health and other problems I was more than a little depressed. I went to see my doctor and asked if I could have some counselling. He arranged for me to have six sessions at the local Health Centre. Six treatments of anything seems to be all you get on the NHS these days but it really did help.
