Welcome to the real world Markemark. The rest of your life is ahead of you and you know what, you don't have to listen to anyone telling you how to live it. Just take it slow and don't feel you have to rush into anything. I bet there are plenty of things you have always wanted to do but have always had to worry about what Brother Self-Righteous at the Kingdumb Hall would say\think. Well now you can do whatever you want, so start making plans, make a list if you want. Just think though, you are now free, really free to do ANYTHING you want. Life is out there, go get it! :)

The Perils of Astrology
by Stephanus inyes, i am going through a crisis...well, for a long while now, i have been reading forecasts for my sun sign (virgo) and my rising sign (pisces, 26 degrees).
i thought they were quite relevant to what i was going through, especially the pisces one...only to find out yesterday that during all that time, i should have read the aries forecast as my ascendant is at 26 degrees.
needless to say, i do feel very silly about the whole thing.

As someone who has been 'into' Astronomy for a long time I can honestly say that Astrology is a steaming pile of divination! :)

What is a generation?
by larc ini think we all know about the changing definiition of "generation" by the watchtower society.
i thought i would highlight history in terms of generations.
my great grandfather was born in 1850. that would make him 29 when russell started his religion.

How long is a generation? How long is a piece of string? In Watchtower speak a generation is just about any length of time they feel appropriate or that fits their twisted logic.

Harry Potter Versus The Watchtower.
by SpannerintheWorks indoes anybody have any wbts literature references that criticize, condemn or warn against harry potter books and films?.
you see, my wife and family (jw) "love" harry potter, and so it would be great to be able to show them how absurd the watchtower society is for condemning harry potter, if indeed it does.
i am assuming the wbts would disapprove of such demonic witchcraft and the like that is contained in the harry potter publications!.

All I know is that the Harry Potter books make much better reading than any of the WT's literature.

The Exorcist had a part in my becoming a JW. I saw it when I was 17 and it really played on my mind. My mum, who was newly baptised and full of the usual 'newbie' zeal, was constantly running on about demons etc etc. I started to ask questions and there I was on the slippery slope. Now I realise that it was just a film, not real, not scary, just people acting. What really scares me is the thought of how so many, including myself, could beleive the utter bull taught by the Watchtower.

Another of the silly little rules, made up by the silly little men for their silly little religion. How on earth they dream up some of this stuff is a mystery. :)

Hands up those who don't give a rats arse about religion / spirituality.
by Holey_Cheeses*King_of_the juice. in.
is it just me, or there others who have no room for religion in their lives?.
i appreciate that others are entitled to their beliefs and opinions concerning such beliefs, but i am amazed at the number of posters, who, after years of being oppressed and mislead by religion, still manage to garner some sense from the whole notion of god / religion / spirituality.. cheeses the cynic.

I give neither a rats arse or indeed a rats gonads about religion. I was anti-religious before I became a JW and have returned to my former point of view.

If I had my choice of living anywhere in the UK I would have to choose Dorset. I go there every year for a holiday and I never get tired of the place. Beautiful scenery and nice friendly people. Close enough to London to be handy but far enough away to be nice. :)

Center Parc Meeting Point Condemned by JWs Elders....
by nightwarrior inwell maybe many in the us have not had the pleasure of the center parcs.
vacations.
sub tropical, scantily clad people.. but here in the uk and europe... we know all about them,...... especially if you are a jw.... once a year, in fact the week just before xmas, the jws descend in hordes on the different center park locations dotted around the uk - eg - sherwood and elvedon.. well if you want to see jws have a good time, book now!

Elvedon Centre Parcs is not too far from me and I know a JW who works there. I know for a fact there was a lot of trouble over the Witnesses fighting and causing trouble. How fine it is for brothers to dwell in unity...... b*llocks!
