I'll get around to it pronomono. I would just like to find out when the "Freedom of Worship" one was published first. If somebody doesn't have any first hand knowledge, but you think you might know somebody to get in contact with who does please let me know.

I came up on a bunch of WBTS publications from the 30's through the 70's in my grandma's garage this weekend. I found information on most of them online, but there are two that I can't seem to find any information on. The first one is "Model Study No. 2". It's a guidebook on how to conduct a Bible study from 1939. The other is called "Freedom of Worship" there is no published date in it. It comes across as a confidential written manual for how to deal with legal matters for publishers.
I'm just looking for general information on them. How many copies were distributed. How many are still around etc. etc. I'm not really looking to sell them. They'll be a great addition to my library. If anyone is interested in seeing pics of any of the other publications I found like District Convention programs from the 40's or old booklets like "Judge Rutherford Uncovers The Fifth Column", "Government And Peace", "Uncovered, "Refugees" etc. etc. etc. let me know and I'll post them. Thanks!

Religion/Mental Illness/Schizoprenia
by ranmac ini have a very close friend whos history of traumatic experiences and drug use has culminated into very severe mental and physical detioratation.
i dont want to get into personal information but one major symptom is that he has become religiously deluded about himself.
to be blunt, he believes he is a special prophet chosen by jehovah.

I have a buddy who thinks he's one of God's prophets due to similiar reasons.... I say as long as they don't think God is telling them to kill people let 'em be... we should all be as lucky to delude ourselves into thinking we are God's special person... as long as it's positive and loved based... really, what's the harm? I mean there are worse things that one's brain could trick us into thinking....

Hebrew scholars are actively correcting "mistakes" in the Bible!
by wearewatchingyouman injerusalem a dull-looking chart projected on the wall of a university office in jerusalem displayed a revelation that would startle many readers of the old testament: the sacred text that people revered in the past was not the same one we study today.. an ancient version of one book has an extra phrase.
another appears to have been revised to retroactively insert a prophecy after the events happened.. scholars in this out-of-the-way corner of the hebrew university campus have been quietly at work for 53 years on one of the most ambitious projects attempted in biblical studies publishing the authoritative edition of the old testament, also known as the hebrew bible, and tracking every single evolution of the text over centuries and millennia.. and it has evolved, despite deeply held beliefs to the contrary.. for many jews and christians, religion dictates that the words of the bible in the original hebrew are divine, unaltered and unalterable.. for orthodox jews, the accuracy is considered so inviolable that if a synagogue's torah scroll is found to have a minute error in a single letter, the entire scroll is unusable.. but the ongoing work of the academic detectives of the bible project, as their undertaking is known, shows that this text at the root of judaism, christianity and islam was somewhat fluid for long periods of its history, and that its transmission through the ages was messier and more human than most of us imagine.

What if Christainty is right?
by mankkeli ini was just wondering, what if afterall, christainity is right, what if there would be a ressurection, what if the heavenly hope is a valid aspiration god has set in place for faithful servants, what would be the hope of about 1.3million apostate dissidents who turned their back on the jw brand of christainity, where would they be?, some here seems to represent the anti-christ depicted in the bible, but what would be their hope, would god out of his abundant mercy shield us somehow and what would be the rationale behind his protection?.
life as we presently live it is confusing, the future as perceived is unpredictable, we may think our corpses are deemed to serve as manure, but whereas what if there is really life after death.
how would god judge those who seem to have spat on his face?, would he view us as mere victims of abundant hypocrisy in a confused world?.

I guess that depends on which Christianity you subscribe to... or even which version of WTBTSism you subscribe to... for instance CT Russell's version is Jesus was a "ransom for all" .... so if he's right you'll be just fine no matter what.... then again according to the baptists you'll burn in eternal hellfire and damnation if you don't except Christ Jesus as your ransom... burn baby burn!

I heard this old story before
if people keep appealing for the metaphors
don't leave much up to the imagination
so i wanna give this imagery back
but i know it just ain't so easy like that
so, i turn the page and read the story again
and again and again
it just seems the same
with a different name
we're breaking and rebuilding
and we're growing
always guessing
never knowing
shocking but we're nothing
we're just moments
we're clever but we're clueless
we're just human
amusing but confusing
we're trying
but where is this all leading
we'll never know
it all happened so much faster
than you could say disaster
wanna take a time lapse
and look at it backwards
from the last one
and maybe that's just the answer
that we're after but after all
we're just a bubble in a boiling pot
just one breath in a chain of thought
the moments just combusting
feel certain but we'll never never know
just seems the same
give it a different name
we're begging and we're needing
and we're trying and we're breathing
knock-knock on the door to door
tell ya that the metaphor is better than yours
and you can either sink or swim
things are looking pretty grim
if you don't believe in what their spoon feeding
it's got no feeling
so i read it again
and again and again
just seems the same
so many different names
our hearts are strong
our heads are weak
we'll always be competing
never knowing
shocking but we're nothing
we're just moments
we're clever but we're clueless
we're just human
amusing, confusing
but the truth is
all we got is questions
we'll never know -

@PSSac- pretty sure the JW position is that the Bible is both inerrant and infallible....
Infallibility, from Latin origin ('in', not + 'fallere', to deceive), is a term with a variety of meanings related to knowing truth with certainty.
When a statement, teaching, or book is called 'infallible', this can mean any of the following:
- It is something that can't be proved false.
- It is something that can be safely relied on.
- It is something completely trustworthy and sure.
When it can be shown that prophecy was inserted after the event took place, to deceive people into believing that the text was from God, said book is no longer infallible.... i.e something that can be safely relied on to be completely trustworthy and sure, because it can be proven false...
I fail to see your point... am I missing something? Could you please elaborate...

Most scholars agree that God's name, and the concept of God, changed and evolved in the texts throughout time as the Canaanite's evolved from a polytheistic to a monotheistic tradition....
The fact that this endeavor is being head up by an Orthodox Jew is awesome!!! The old argument that "it's just those liberal/progressive academic scholars" will be null and void...
last post for a few hrs... hit my limit...
