I saw the smashing pumpkins recently. It felt like a convention with all the witnesses there. I said hi to most and most where so uncomfortable. I told my wife, " Really?! my husband and i where born in jdubs and almost 1 year ago we started to fade , now that we think about it has been a few years that we were suffering from cognitive dissonance without knowing it.
we feel that finally we have our life back , a life that is just starting.

Welcome. Your story is almost exactly like mine and my wife's. Just concentrate on your lives as a couple and try to ignore the actions of your family. You will be angry, sad abs sometimes you will even laugh at their actions. After all they are on a cult.
today has been one of the most aganizing days since i woke up.
my family has been pressuring me to show up at the memorial for the past week.
it became very intense today with my dad texting me constantly to get me to confirm and when i didn't answer he would call my wife and then she would constantly nag me to answer my dad and so on and so forth.
I'm so sorry for what you are experiencing. You made a stand though and drew a line in the sand. Now you will know who will be there on your side no matter what. Life goes on with some people and without some. I hope your wife will see your unconditional love as a model for her love, if not, at least you showed her and everyone your convictions cannot be bought off by selfish threats of abandonment.
last year, my last jw memorial, i listened to the talk as an outsider would.
the speaker strung unrelated texts together and for the first time, i saw that the interpretations made no sense.
afterward, i had a private memorial with homemade unleavened bread and wine with four people--three of whom partook.
today will be my first timr missing in the 30 years of my life.
