i'm curious to see if anyone here has any major anxiety disorders and how it affects their lives.
as a semi-confession, i think i may have something of this sort, but i'd like a comparison first.
being a male, i never go to the doctors unless my leg is falling off, so i don't just want to go to a doctor to medicate a problem that could be overcome in other ways.

Body of Elders noun
Body of elders
Member of a governing body or ruling class made up of those whose gender or hypocrisy confers a special dignity on them.
does every issue of morality have to be compared with the thinking and teaching of jehovahs witnesses?
simply because you are no longer jehovahs witnesses does that mean that you flaunt all moral authority and engaged in any perverted pleasure that you have a mind to?
because your morality is no longer legislated by a pseudo religious organization does that give you license to engage in all acts of "immorality" and refer to it "as just having fun.
Dutchie:
Im probably one of those people you are referring to coming here looking for answers.
Just left the Borg last month. I started out reading Silentlambs and ended up here. And yes, sometimes the items I have seen here have made me question my decision to leave the org.
I dont know if it can be remedied or if any of us ( other than Simon) have the right to tell others what to post, but I want to say that I very much appreciate your concern. I believe that Gods Word is what had power not the Organization. I too will choose to live my life along those lines.
I think you are FANTASTIC!

bishops approve new policy on abusive priests
below are some excerpts from the new catholic policy.
even though the catholic people are not happy with the entire policy, i was just thinking how much better it is than what jehovahs witnesses received.
Fred
I'm not sure what point you are trying to make. The Dr Starck Dissident VNR is still on JW-Media if not on the front page.
The Watchtower Policy barely acknowledges that victims exist. I do not see any admission of guilt similar to the Catholics statement ...... the ways in which we bishops addressed these crimes and sins, have caused enormous pain, anger, and confusion. Innocent victims and their families have suffered terribly.
Nor do I see any attempt made to ...... develop an outreach to every person who has been the victim of sexual abuse * as a minor by anyone acting in the name of the Church, whether the abuse was recent or occurred many years in the past

At least it admits that there are victims, while WBTS still calls victims support groups, Dissidents.
The policy will be an interim policy in place for the next two years. As such, it does not require Vatican approval.

The Church in the United States is experiencing a crisis without precedent in our times. The sexual abuse of children and young people by some priests and bishops, and the ways in which we bishops addressed these crimes and sins, have caused enormous pain, anger, and confusion. Innocent victims and their families have suffered terribly. In the past, secrecy has created an atmosphere that has inhibited the healing process and, in some cases, enabled sexually abusive behavior to be repeated. As bishops, we acknowledge our mistakes and our role in that suffering, and we apologize and take responsibility for too often failing victims and our people in the past. We also take responsibility for dealing with this problem strongly, consistently, and effectively in the future. From the depths of our hearts, we bishops express great sorrow and profound regret for what the Catholic people are enduring.
ARTICLE 1. Dioceses/eparchies will reach out to victims/survivors and their families and demonstrate a sincere commitment to their spiritual and emotional well-being. The first obligation of the Church with regard to the victims is for healing and reconciliation. Where such outreach is not already in place and operative, each diocese/eparchy is to develop an outreach to every person who has been the victim of sexual abuse * as a minor by anyone acting in the name of the Church, whether the abuse was recent or occurred many years in the past. This outreach will include provision of counseling, spiritual assistance, support groups, and other social services agreed upon by the victim and the diocese/eparchy.

the following is a letter i recieved to day on the silentlambs email.
it seems brothers and sisters are becoming more willing to speak out on this matter.
silentlambs
This sister is unbelievably courageous, if you don't understand that then you have never been in her shoes.
I think this is a battle that will be fought on the backs of the sisters.
How does the BOE deal with Sister Bertha or Sister Marg ? Two older women who are faithful and kind, who have brought food to the sick, cared for the needy, who are loved by every member of the congregation?
The BOE will have more sense than to disfellowship or disassociate them because at that point the middle aged sisters will jump on their band wagon.
Surely the elders realize that women have zero concept of the good old boy policy as in Im a company man.
Women dont think like men. I see the Governing Body doing articles on submission to brothers, etc. But that could back fire on them too.
below was a letter to editor that was printed in the paducah paper.
i thought it might be relevant now as jw's are defending their position on child abuse as being ok. it all boils down to the five questions.
if the typical jw can answer the five questions truthfully then they are forced to admit there is a problem.
Path & Leon,
Your points are very well made and logical. However, we are talking about Influencing public opinion not winning a legal case at this point in time. This is an issue that leaves women outraged, inside and outside the congregation. We are talking about Ophra audiences and emotional topics. Don't believe logic will be much of a factor to mothers protecting children.
