Do you think that us evil "apostates" that have come to see the WTBTS for what it is are starting to take a toll on their numbers?
I don't remember getting hit with so frequently with stuff on DF'd people and apostates back when I was in the cult.

Today's Watchtower Lesson Really Bothered Me...
by dontplaceliterature ini was a hair away from telling my wife i never wanted to go to the kingdom hall again after today's watchtower.
the conductor mentioned something along the lines of..."if you think having to shun your disfellowshipped children is bad...you should read up on the israelites.
when one of their children was disobedient to the law, they had to take the before the judges so that they could be stoned to death...and guess who's job it was throw the first stone?".

What a total logic fail. Neither one of these bits of stupidity justify each other in any form. Stuff like this is why I just couldn't fake it anymore. If I had to go to a Kingdumb Hall now I'd probably lose my sh*t and drop-kick someone mid-comment after hearing that.

Hah, that's a great video; watching it now. As a kid I never understood why Jehovah massacred people that just happened to be born in a different nation than Israel. As far as I know, it's not like anyone really has a choice as to who births them. I just wish I'd acted on questions I had much sooner than my 20's!

by PSacramento inno us as a internet forum but us as a people.. have you noticed how accetable violence is and how it seems unaccetable to view the human form?.
it is perfectly fine for us and our children to see violence during a sporting event, during a movie on primetime even read about "unbelievers" being destroyed by god, but if you see a pair of boobs or a butt a bit to revealing it's like freaking armageden !!!.
the other day a movie was on and there were a could or "risque" scenes that showed perhaps more cleavage than they should have, so it was blurred out, but then they showed a guy losing his head and the bloody neck stub !!!.

I was also thinking how acts that we would consider heinous have been around for quite some time. Serial killers aren't a new thing for example. I think of the stuff that HH Holmes did in the 1800's compared to today, and he's as sick if not worse than the others.
We now have our species at it's largest population ever, with the greatest amount of inter-connected-ness ever. You can barely break wind these days without someone finding out, twittering, etc. More people = more chances for bad apples, massive global consciousness and internet = news of anything noteworthy spreads instantly. These things, combined with the fact that bad news gets more eyeballs and sells more news than fluffy good news, all make me think that maybe things aren't really as bad as I once thought.

An abuse of religion, power, and greed among those who have it in spades is the primary cause. It doesn't take many bad apples to spoil the bunch.
I also think that this type of thinking is somewhat JW-related; ya know, the entire "wow things are getting so bad" thing as JW's always think things are getting worse and end is getting closer. In reality, things have been far worse many times before in human history. And, generally speaking, the percentage of people doing the crazy or evil things that dominate the headlines is a tiny percentage when compared to the rest of the world that just goes about their business.

How many of you haven't fared too well since your exit?
by i_drank_the_wine ini know that i've had a hard time piecing things back together after losing my wife and family a couple years ago and haven't really gotten the ball rolling to say the least.
just curious to hear if anyone else is in the same boat, or was in the same boat and how long it took them to get a "new life" figured out and going..

A Letter to My Sons ... A Request for Help
by 00DAD init has now been over two years since i was df'd.
in that time i have had limited contact with my 17 year old son, the younger, and almost no contact with my 20 year old.
the older boy was baptized 5 years ago and sadly the younger just recently took the plunge into the "pool-aid".

I hope everything works out for you. I tried to save my family too, but only got the perma-cold-shoulder instead. I wish I had done more research into the psychology of dealing with cult people before I gave it my all.
