  I see. Knowing God means knowing why the Bible says it is Yahweh who causes tribulation. I don't want to explain it, even if I could. I don't know if I can. Sorry.

  Thank you for the answer to my internal question. It is gaslighting.

  I kept thinking when a male derails a thread it is nothing (unless he is spewing religious babble). But if I did it was selfish and unkind.

  If a male poster made a cutting remark it was nothing. If JWN thought I was cutting back it was a shame.

  I appreciate the article Palmtree, thanks for posting.

  Has ANYONE married someone who is not a jw and been/is happy????

  Hi MsGrowingGirl, I was married before I became a JW. I can not imagine being happier if I had married a JW.

  I wondered about the tension that is present in a JW JW marriage because a lot depends on subjection to the GB authority and works of "faith". If one spouse is not keeping up with the chariot of Jehovah then the other spouse should be concerned. And that's not right.

  Dear Dagney, those quotes caused me electricity! Wibble for my body feels tingly I might change the quote (if I may be so bold) to read

  Question about 2 Tim. 3:16

  regarding 2 tim.

  3:16, "all scripture is inspired by god".....since the only scripture at the time this was written was the old testament (hebrew scriptures, if you prefer), would it make sense to reason that this scripture cannot be used by itself to support new testament writings?....that the scriptures referred to in this verse were the old testament?.

  as an apostle paul had authority, but to me it seems that some of the things paul wrote were related as "commands" to the congregations, whereas other things were only his suggestions or his perspective and that it was up to the individuals to decide for themselves.. your thoughts on this?.

  That appears to be sound reasoning from my pov.

  Are you saying the scriptures that they would have been communicating about is the Hebrew scriptures? I think you might be right. The letters of the Greek Scriptures would not have been included in the meaning of 2 Tim 3:16 because they had not been tried like the Hebrew Scriptures have been.

  mrquick I love that watch analogy.

  Did you see the Iron Giant the children's animated movie? The giant gets bombed. The pieces scatter. But they are "programmed" to reassemble. I believe in God the Creator because I can not wrap my mind around the simplest blind pieces of matter finding the right other pieces to make something that functions at the amazing level that life functions at. How does one piece "know" it belongs to another?

  I really wish I could have gotten to know my grandparents because my JW parents wouldn't let me be around them.

  Razziel. It's so sad! Inexcusable. Will they never learn that their job is to promote love, not hate?

  My grandparents died before I was old enough to know them well. I heard that my Dad's mom threw water on the walls during a storm.

  Who said it?

  I was looking for a Shakespeare quote about the finish. The means justify the end. Something like that. Forgiveness is a great thing! I am glad to forgive anyone, but they must want it. I need forgiveness, but I don't feel good assuming it.

  When I post sometimes I consider the outcast looking in reading and I almost always consider the future. Not of myself so much as HOW will we appear to the future. And how will each of us cope with whatever may come. You have helped me Talesin. Today I saw the Elders at my door. I thought compared to JWN this will be a piece of cake! I told them about Jesus.
