Thanks Wolfgirl & Scully for pointing that out to me. This is the first time I've done this. I did go to strike9 and uploaded the picture. Is there anything else I need to do? I'll try again.

Jack Nicholson in "The Shining"
"Here's JOHNNY!!!"
Classic one liner after axing a hole through a door and sticking your face through it.
And how about this one. I think Jack was talking to the dubs with this one. The movie "A Few Good Men".
"The TRUTH? You can't handle the TRUTH!!"
Yeah sounds about right.

chaperones
by restorebeauty inwhen you all were dating jws, did you have to have a chaperone everytime you went out?
did you always adhere to this rule?
how did you get around it without getting caught?.

LOL@Stephanus. Love the illustration too!
At one time I was living with a sister that started dating. I used to have to chaperone often. It was a bit of a hassle most times, as I was pretty strict about the whole thing. I'd only just been baptized, & being a zealous sister that I was, I took my chaperoning very seriously. Needless to say, I was a real pain in the #@%!
Anyway, one night after returning home from the meeting, I came home to find them both in the lounge room ALONE. Now this was very serious. So I promptly informed them, that unless I was home at the same time, that they were not allowed inside the house alone, & to wait outside for me until I came home!! The look on their faces was of complete shock, especially when I continued on to say that I would take this matter to the elders if they did it again!!
I can't believe what an idiot I was! No wonder that poor sister found a new place to move into 2wks after that. I was upset with her because she abandoned me. But of course now I have a laugh about it, cause I got what I deserved!

Yeah, I know what you mean! Definately some nice looking boys here needing some serious loving. Obviously intelligent too.
Reborn - you are more than average looking. You are a very handsome man. Also I just wanted to say that I have read some of your posts, you've been through hell. You have an ethnic background, as do I. I'm 1st generation Italian born in Australia, my parents are from Sicily. I think Italians are beautiful people, however in my experience with the Italian community, I know how sensitive they can be. (Was also in the Italian cong for 2yrs). They are emotional & passionate people, but if you offend them in any way - watch out! So if this is your experience as well, I can only imagine what a nightmare it has been for you leaving the borg.
Keep up the apostate work! I notice you have a lot of friends here on this board.
Spice it up - this is a great idea. I hope there are some sucessfull matches!

What a jerk...
by joannadandy inok so it always bothered me what a jerk jacob was.
he was a deceptive little cheater, and yet he was favored over his brother?
he used a blatant trick to confuse his obviously blind old father...how is he a biblical hero?.

Yes well, there are lots of god's favoured ones mentioned in the Bible whom have definately acted quite imperfect. Roybatty made a good point about Jacob later become a better man. It's good to know that even chosen ones made mistakes.
Even so, I have to agree with you Joanna & Ugly cause what Jacob did was horrible. However, reading the account I notice that his mum Rebecca had quite a lot of influence over him. She was the one giving him all the ideas. Very norty!
Now one guy I don't like is that King David. Now who did he think he was? King or something? I mean how many wives & concubines did he have? Quite a few I believe. But no, that wasn't good enough was it? He had to have Bathsheeba too. And poor Bathsheeba, did she have a choice? Probably not. Ah, but that was not enough for Davie, no of course not. He had to then go and plot to have her hubby killed in battle. Good one! But god forgave him, so there's hope for us all then.
Ugly mentioned Paul. Yeah he was bright wasn't he? Actually the more I read about those disciples the more I realise how slow off the mark they really were. I mean Jesus warned them about what was going to happen after he died. He did that three times. But obviously, more repetition was required. Thomas even went as far as wanting to put his finger on the scars of the nails that were in Jesus's hand & his hand on Jesus's side, or he would not believe. (John 20:24-26). But Jesus was very patient with them, & he loved them. I guess that's what it's all about - forgiving.
The Bible is full of exciting stories. There's war, betrayal, murder, supernatural occurences, enviromental disasters, love & romance, sexual references, a wild birthday party (including decapitation), good versus evil. I'm sure you can think of heaps more. Makes for a good bedtime story!

Praying to Jehovah.......
by Bhagavad in.......certainly never got me anywhere, did not even help my wife to survive cancer, in spite of jesus' admonition to "ask anything in my name.
" there are opinions among some students and researchers of the bible to the effect that the god and father jesus prayed to was not jehovah.
just try to find "jehovah" in the sermon on the mount, even in the nwt.

How awful for you Bhagaved. Makes you realise how precious & fragile we all are. I agree with what you said about trying to be a moral person. God can read into your heart. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or says, including an organisation who claim to be directed by god.
The way I understood prayer, was that it wasn't meant to make problems disappear. If you had a close relationship with god, then he would help you cope with whatever hardships were thrown at you. With prayer, you would be given the strength. Well, that's what i was taught about prayer. Whether or not this is true, I don't know.
All the best Bhagaved. May life throw some happiness your way.

The problem with mental illness is that it's a disease that up until recently, no one would talk about. Even now with all the information readily available on depression and mental illness it's still something that for many sufferers is hard to discuss. This makes it even more difficult to cope with. There's also that feeling that it's all in your head, that you should just get over it.
You will find that you will come across many people from all walks of life with mental illness. People around you - the friendly neighbour, a fellow worker who is always laughing, an outgoing friend, the family member who always makes you smile & your bubbly hairdresser who listens to all YOUR complaints while she does your hair etc..etc..You don't know who i'm talking about, because you don't know who they are. They hide it so well. Most sufferers of this terrible illness will NEVER want you to know. I guess it would be especially hard for a brother or sister to talk about it, because they are in god's organisation, they have Jehovah to lean on after all. They are his happy people. We can't go around being sad. That would make us not spiritually strong enough, not relying on Jehovah.
These are feelings and emotions that are in the mind of the sufferer, not necessarily any one else's. That's another reason this disease is so hard to fight. Depression affects your mind, making it very difficult to think clearly. Even when wonderful people around you are trying to help.
It's great how a broader understanding of this illness is being accomplished and so many people are aware of how serious it is. There are probably many situations where medication is prescribed too readily, & I don't agree with patients being put on anti-depressants when there could be other ways of treating this person. However, it's important to look at the whole picture, & really which is the better option. Life as a living hell and an almost daily mental anguish (depending on the severity), or medication that might help relieve some of the symptons or at least help you cope with them.
I think it's excellent this subject is being discussed. I think you could never know enough about it.And yes I have been a victim. I've had post-natal depression. Never thought it would happen to me. I have friends & family affected by it too.
I've recovered now, I'm one of the lucky ones. If you do have this illness, just remember that you can fight it, even if you have to take medication. So what? Don't let anyone make you feel bad about doing that. There are enough things in this world to feel bad about. And if you know someone who is depressed, the best thing you can do is LISTEN. Just be there. Let them talk.
Well, this is my first post, and I hope i haven't baffled on too much. Really happy to have found this site, with so many caring people.
