Little Thought for Lurkers, oringinal sin?

just one little thought....adam & eve ate the fruit from the tree "of the knowledge of good & evil".

so..in other words, before they ate they did not know right from wrong...hmmmm so how can you blame someone who does not know right from wrong?.

for a crime to take place in human law you must have the act - 'actus reus' - and the guilty mind or 'mens rea' as it is termed.

The narrative, itself, kinda gives the impression that, at a minimum, Eve and probably Adam, werent around for that long, before Satan tempted them. Therefore, it always seemed to me, that although they were "perfect", they were mentally almost like children. They would have had hardly any life experience, and would have been like 2 elementary school aged "persons", walking around the garden.

They would have been "easy prey" for Satan. I dont know, of course, but its just my 2 cents, and it always seemed kinda unfair to me. Unfair, in the sense, that these 2 humans, whether perfect or not, were merely "children", in the big scheme of things. What chance would they have had against a spirit creature, who was cunning, and able to physically and mentally "deceive" them. Mind you, this was a being who was, supposedly, alive for billions of years, many times in the very presence of God, himself. A creature, of authority, even amongst creatures that are a much higher intelligence than a perfect mere human.

Yet God had no problem, with essentially letting this creature, deceive us, and horribly so, to the point of bringing our whole, intelligent species forever changed by death. Again, i ask, what chance did we have? Especially against the magical, shape shifting, powers, of a highly advanced, spirit creature, that has billions of years experience, and is hell bent on fucking with us.

We were a "newborn" of creation, barely around for any measure of time, in comparision to the universe. Yet God, is supposed to be a LOVING FATHER, well what kind of Father would even allow any predatory, intelligent being, to even come close enough to his latest, fragile, freshly created humans. Not only did he let the predator close enough to harm us, he LET IT HARM US, and to the point that NONE of us have had a chance. Again, what chance did we have.

Yet, to blow all our minds, if it DID NOT happen, then NONE of us here, on this message board, would have ever been born to even discuss this, in the first place. MIND BLOWN!!!!!!

I have found the elders to be some of the most, unloving, self righteous, judgemental, human beings in the world. By definition of what a shepard is supposed to be, elders fail miserably. True shepards, are vigilant, both day and night, to protect the flock from predators. If a sheep is lost, or straying to far from the flock, they are diligantly searched for, until found. The shepards in the middle east, are/were experts at slinging stones, hence the story of David and Goliath. They will use their slings and stones, to shoot stones, with incredible precision, at all predators who endanger the flock.

Elders will NEVER be good shepards, because, instead of protecting a sheep, when one is lost or straying, they literally "kick it out" of the flock. Through their tactics of Disfellowshipping, shunning, marking, judgeing, they show that they have NO love for any in the flock. In fact, most of the times, it is their very actions that cause the sheep to stray, stumble, and become lost.

Can you imagine a TRUE shepard, literally throwing their sheep to the wolves? Well, elders have been doing this for many, many years, and all under the , hypocrytical, guise of love. Their time is, soon to be at its end. Their sands are circling the hourglass, and their time is over. The numbers speak for themselves, as many are now waking up, and would rather be loved, than hated, and must leave the org to find that love.

Cracked under pressure

a big problem i have always had when talking about anything related to jw teachings, is that i get aggravated and frustrated when logical black and white concepts/scriptures are not seen/interpreted in a logical way.

it really frustrates me having to hear '' oh no this does not apply here '' in every scripture that i bring to my parents attention.

starting from when i was 16 to about 20, my frustrations would lead to these anger fits.

My friend, YOU sound like the mature, thinking, and loving Christian, in the situation. You can, usually, never go wrong with applying those qualities. Your getting frustrated, and "losing it", is NORMAL. Remember, YOU are the one who is being JUDGED by them, and you are the one who is not receiving true love from them.

Unfortunately, your parents are in a cult, that does not allow critical thinking, in fact, critical thinking on ones own, SCARES THEM. Your parents, are most likely, fully indoctrinated, and completely under the WTS brain washing control, and its ashame.

For what its worth, the toughest part for you, is probably because you live under their roof still. Everyones financial situation is different, and not all can, but i can guarantee that if you were able to move out, things between you guys would get better, hopefully.

I dealt with a similar situation with my father, when i was in my early 20's. He in many cases, and not just concerning JW/spiritual things, was very judgemental at certain times. He would sometimes, talk down to me, belittle me, and berate me. We would on ocassion, although most of the time i tried to be the "better" person, get into frustrating screaming matches. Eventually, i found that the best course for me, was to just move out, and get my own place. I went on to live my own life, under my own roof, and with my own rules. I went on to become successful in business, and have my own family, and children.

After moving out, and paving my own way, my father tremendously "softened" his attitude towards me. I cant speak for what for him the catalyst was. I dont know if it was guilt, or becoming, eventually, proud of me, or just realising the error in his ways, but we started having a much better, and more loving relationship with each other. Today we are closer than ever.

Sometimes, things just take time. Continue to think for yourself, like you are. Do for yourself, and continue doing well at work, and progressing from there. Sometimes parents, simply dont respect their childrens "wisdom", until they get older, and maybe realize, that their children WERE wise all along, and ahead of their years. I have a feeling, this may be whats going on in your case. Try to give things time, and continue to flourish, and do well for yourself, and things WILL fall into place.

Lol, i had a brother tell me once, that Jehovah used dinosaurs to "prepare" the earth for man. The dinosaur's dead bodies formed the huge deposits of oil wells underground, that mankind uses today.

So, based on that logic, then Jehovah must have known during dinossaur times, that mankind WAS going to sin, and eventually lead themselves to the industrial revolution, where we would need the dinosaur oil to "power" our cars and machines, in our modern, worldly, satanic last days.

EJ257 - Welcome! One thing you may not be aware of, yet, but the "down sizing" in Bethel, and reduction in literature, is NOT because the WTS is "aware" of the impending end, but is because the WTS is experiencing huge FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES. They are on, or at the brink of financial collapse. Its been about 20 years in the making, and its now come to "critical mass". These are the ONLY reason for them decreasing ANYTHING.

Being a parent myself, i find it mind boggling that parents would rather give their financial possesions to a multi-million dollar corporation, that perverts the meanings of Christian love, than their OWN children. The kicker too is, how many JW's were born in, and raised by the WTS from infancy. Due to this being the case their parents, most of the time, never directed them towards college, or even just setting up ANY kind of stability financially for their future. To, then, on top of it NOT will anything to these same children, is such a slap in the face, it could almost be considered ABUSE.

So, you raise your children in a dooms day cult. You indoctrinate them from infancy thru fear and manipulation. You discourage them from any financial planning, further education, and "skills" to survive in this real world , basically leaving them "helpless". Then at your twilight years, instead of, ATLEAST making up for it, by leaving them SOMETHING/ANYTHING, that could help them survive this world that they prevented them from preparing for in the first place, they just leave you "high and dry". Its criminal, and so angering, to me, that this happens. The WTS doesnt deserve this money, they deserve to be held accountable, instead. Their time is coming, though. Their reckoning is coming. . . . . .

OK, guys, i just watched the video, lol. WTF was that? First of all, can someone PLEASE tell me, is this an ACTUAL Watchtower video? Or is this a joke? @ - Phaedra - That SUXS, so sorry to hear that. If you dont mind me asking, how do you know this? Did they come right out and actually tell you this?

One thing your parents may not be considering, is the fact that the WTS will NOT take care of THEM in their elderly/infirmed later years. Its easy for your parents to say this, while they are healthy and able to care for themselves, but as we get older and older, our bodys most of the time do NOT cooperate with us.

Sometimes, older parents need to be put in nursing homes, or may need EXPENSIVE home care. They also, most of the time, NEED this care to be orchestrated, and or actually administered by their children, YOU.

If they own a home, for instance,or have bank accounts, and the house and accounts are in their names, the nursing home WILL be entitles to these things, as payment for care. Also, even if the house is put in YOUR name, it takes 5 YEARS before it is considered YOURS. This law prevents someone switching a home into their childrens name, as soon as they get sick. It must be done in preparation, BEFORE, and it takes 5 years for it to become "legitimate".

Maybe you could tell them this, so that they make YOU the executor of the estate. Tell them you are doing this for THEIR sake, so that you will have the RESOURCES to care for them as their health fails. If they "will" things to the WTS, which is a corporation that WILL NOT help take care of them in their "twilight years", they could very well be giving their money to a "worldly" nursing home anyway. Also, maybe without coming out and saying it exactly, but you could "imply" that YOU will NOT be able to help them, because you would not have the financial means to do so.

If they make YOU the executor of the estate, you can guarantee that you will use the estate/money to care for them, and if they did that you probably would WANT to help them. If they didnt, well, you get the point, lol.

Present it to them under the guise of looking out for THEM, and wanting to be able to help them in later years, which the WTS will NOT.

My JW parents, who are in their early 70's, have put their mortgage free, $900,000 dollar, 2 family home in a borough of NYC, home, in MY name 2 years ago. They did this in anticipation of the future. If and when they get older, and need care, a nursing home will NOT have access to their home. They also, have put ALL their bank accounts in mine, and my sisters names, too, and for the same reasons.

My parents KNOW that my sister and i, WILL make sure they are taken care of in their twilight years. They have shown that they are "looking out" for me, and I will be "looking out" for THEM.
