greetings all texas apostates...i have been guided by the holy spirit (tm) to compile a map locating us in the veritable hotbed of apostacy that texas is...if you would like to be on the map let me know and i'll add you as you request.
we can't very well let ballistic and our uk counterparts/blokes/blokettes have all the fun now can we?
we can also squeeze in our brothers and sisters from neighboring staes as well.. .

nails in the wt coffin-- what kind of nails?
a while back i posted my opinion that the wt's demise would come at the hand of the "home grown" legal department.
in my scenario i see the lawyers flitering cash out and creating legal manuvers to protect the players ( like any other corporate "legal theft").

Very insightful post. I suspect that you are correct regarding the ability of the WTS to control information flow. Information will indeed be their worst enemy. They are already having a difficult time keeping the disclosures about the pedophiles quiet. As people become more computer literate, they are going to do a web search before they agree to do a bible study.
my most painful confession
note to simon: i will use some expletives, but i hope that they will be retained as this is intended to be an otherwise civil and thoughtful post to all my fellow ex-jws.
please read on, as this is most painful.

You truly are AMAZING! God Bless You and keep you. Looking forward to your return.
just found out yesterday, by way of the grapevine, that my jw husband's inheritance from his parents, is going to the wts.
i had been trying to tell my husband that the wts is doing this now, and he did not believe me.
and would u believe it, we heard yesterday, from his his nephew, that it is so, they are not leaving anything to their kids, all to the wts.
Since my wife is a JW and I might go before she does, I set up a Living Trust in order to make sure that she can't disinherit my kids. Besides, she knows that I would come back to haunt her if she tried to leave the estate to the WTS.
you have been following the news for weeks on iraq and wonder, "when will we attack and get this thing done?
" finally we invade and the war is in full swing.
the economy, which has been struggling for months now, finally caves in and major retailers fold as of the results of an extremely poor holiday shopping season.
Actually, a 1 megaton weapon isn't that large if you are using Hydrogen bomb technology. You could easily fit a half-dozen of them in an 18 wheeler. Unless the terrorists steal one, the technology is way beyond them. Atomic weapons are much more simple. As Francois pointed out, they are detectable. Would that make one want to go back to the Kingdom Hall? Don't think so! Even a stopped clock is right twice each day.
though hopefully i am not planning on dying at the moment, but time and unforeseen circumstances can catch up with us all.. previously, i had an elder who is a gentle and kind person lined up to handle my memorial should the need arise.. however, now that i am no longer fully in as it were, i not sure what instructions i should give to my family should the worst arise.
i can hardly says what i really want is an anglican service or contact the local buddhists.. anyone else thought about this and come to any conclusions?

I'm opting for cremation after any salvagable parts have been donated. I'm expecting a memorial service at a funeral parlour since most of my wife's friends are JWs and might have a problem with attending the Unity Church where I am involved. I have informed my children that I intend to come back and haunt them if I am given a JW funeral.
i've just been playing back farkels rendition of his "dubsticks".
it really makes me smile, the way that he makes the melody weave in an out of "chopsticks" and then "from house to house" in a way that is so fluid that it brings to mind the almost seamless stitching together of the old "hooked on 45's" and "hooked on classics" albums of the early 80's.. so i was thinking, what kingdub songs could we weave effortlessly into existing music?
i can think of two or three right now.. "we thank you jehovah" bears more than a passing resemblance to haydns "creation" imho.. then again "keep your eyes on the pies" is almost, to my tuneless ear anyway, a carbon copy of "some day my prince will come" from the movie snow white.. finally, an old kingdub song whose name escapes me, but carrying the words "it's your commission now to preach", always puts me in mind of the main them running through wagners "lohengrin".. now i'm not suggesting for one minute that maestro farkel should work on melodies such as these for the sole purpose of our mutual tittilation.
Though I detest JW doctrine, I am quite fond of the Kingdom Melodies CD. I too have noted an erie similarity of many of the songs to classical works that pre-date the CD by several hundred years. If not downright pirated, they certainly were influenced by the classical pieces. Not being a JW, I never knew the words, but some of the tunes are lovely.
i think this is an interesting test.. http://www.selectsmart.com/religion/.
i was not at all surprised by my results!
my most compatible match was secular humanist and my least compatible....drumroll please...jehovah's witnesses..... ~aztec
My results were:
1. New Thought- 100
2. Mahayana Buddhism-97
3. Hindu-89
4. Unitarian Universalist-86
26. Seventh Day Adventist-19
27 J.W.-11
Given the above, it is apparent why my "annointed" JW wife and I don't discuss religion very often.
id like to hear some *reasoned* explanations for why you believe the bible is gods word.
ive been so fascinated by the study of *real* biblical scholarship since i began educating myself, i now find it incredulous that i used to take the bible as divine, along with all jws and tons of christians, including a good number here.
so id like to entertain your very best lines of evidence that this is the real deal.. mox

Don't apologize! I would like to hear more.
