I have noticed the same thing as Satanus. The WT seems to have more than its fair share of folks who aren't "playing with a full deck".

Ditto what Big Tex said about the condition of our world being our responsibility. We may indeed screw it up, but there will never be a time when we will not be safe in the arms of God. Stop thinking of yourself as a body that happens to have a spirit and start realizing that you are a spirit( eternal, immortal, created in the image of God) that happens to be currently occupying a body. You cannot possibly die. A quote from A Course In Miracles goes "The end of this world will not be its destruction, but its translation into heaven". When I get depressed about world events, I go back to the bible and read the story of the Prodigal Son. It says everything that needs to be said about who we are and what the future holds for us. I used to fly around with hydrogen bombs capable of destroying large cities and I knew that there were Russian aircrews doing the same thing that I was doing. The threat in the middle east seems like nothing compared to that. There is a black comedy that sometimes comes on late night TV called, Dr. Strangelove (How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb). Watch it sometime. It will put things in perspective.

Fear Of Demons:

This is the sort of mentality that caused countless thousands to be burned at the stake as witches. A Course In Miracles has a line that goes: "That which you defend against, you make real to your own mind". At the root of all such beliefs is a belief in duality, a belief in a power other than God. How sad that children are being infected with this sort of tripe. Thanks for posting this Eman.

Any "science" that relies solely on what can be observed with our human senses is likely to be proved erroneous because, as been amply demonstrated over and over again, our human senses are not very reliable. Our brains tend to translate the images our eyes "see" in terms of our prior experience. Hence the Hawaians seeing Captain Cook on "floating islands". There used to be a museum in New York that had an exhibit demonstrating how easy it was to fool the six senses. Science is not all that precise. Typically, they come up with(postulate) theorems and then experiment to see if the theorem is correct. The problem is that the observer of the experiment affects the outcome of the experiment. The classic example is that of light energy. Is it a particle motion or a wave motion? Experimentation has demonstated that it is both. Numerous demonstations on the power of prayer have been conducted where one group of cancer patients was being prayed for, but the other was not. Neither group was made aware of the experiment so as not to affect the outcome. The group being "prayed for" did much better that the control group. The experiment has been repeated successfully many times. Why does this work? Scientists know that the body can produce powerful healing chemicals when a placebo is ingested and the patient told that it is a powerful healing chemical. Bernie Siegal in his book Love, Medicine and Miracles documents a case where an advanced cancer patient was put into remission by distilled water when told that it was the powerful healing drug Krybiozen (later proved to be worthless). How does this work? Science can observe, but not explain this. Just because they can't explain it doesn't mean there is not a scientific explanation. What if there is only one mind with myriad cells all connected and sharing each others reality? What if that mind is not "local" but only appears to be local. Think of it as a giant movie projector. Instead of processing film, it is processing thoughts. What appears on the movie screen is going to accurately portray what is going through the "projector". As jst2laws says, this is what the mystics have been telling us for 2000 years. The Hindus call it "maya".

is it possible that there is corruption in the US gov?

Sure it is possible, even probable. However, all is not as it appears. When a company like Halliburton gets a "no bid" contract like this, it is cost plus fixed percentage fee. The only consideration is whether or not they have or can get the resources to do the job. Their costs are subject to audit "after the fact" and are frequently disallowed. The Engineers that I know who are returning from active duty military tours in Irag with the Corp of Engineers tell me that KBR is doing an excellent job working in a very dangerous environment. I didn't notice too many companies falling over themselves trying to get that work for themselves. These charges seem to be "old stuff" and appear to be politically motivated.

What is the true Christian religion / faith?
by evergreen ini,m going to cut to the chase here .i am not long viewing this website and am fascinated at much of what i have read.currently i attend meetings, but sit there and think of what i now know about the society and its past.i just feel so confused at the moment with religion.. its a bit like who shot jfk ,did man really land on the moon etc .. except it involves all of us( just wish i knew the truth).
the only thing that is keeping me there right now is that all my family are in the "truth" ,,and i cant just stay at home and be shunned which i have recently experienced ( was inactive for a while) .. if i knew beyond any shadow of a doubt that i have found the true faith and discern that it is definately the true faith, i would then make a stand and nothing would stop me .
already i am reading the scriptures without the aid of wt publications and what i am reading is amazing .i am starting to feel that i am now getting closer to god by simply doing this coupled with prayer.. there must be one true faith as there was in the first century.

You would all do well to go back and read the post by James Thomas. He was "spot on" when he said: "You are the treasure you are seeking.". The only teacher we need resides within us.

Saying "hi" leads to love and leaving your wife...
by kitties_and_horses_oh_my! ini've been struggling so much with some old programming that i truly feel is from the witnesses, and my father in particular.
he always told me men and women couldn't be friends -- unless they were married or related -- because they'd fall in love with each other and leave their mates.
that's why you could only be friends with your own gender and were never allowed to be alone with someone of the opposite sex, even in a car.

Remember the words of Job: "Lo, the very thing I feared has come upon me". Seem like these kind of fears act as magnets for the event.

Why did Jehovah act more in ancient times than he does now?
by truthseeker inin ancient times.... .
jehovah punished adam and eve for their disobedience.
destroyed an ancient world.

As Franklin J says, "don't believe everything you read". Jehovah has never had anything to do with this world. This world is our deal and we have made it what it is. As the Hindus say, it is all "maya"-Illusion.

Job
by kwintestal inwhat religion was job?
he was the greatest in the orient, so he obviously wasn't an israelite yet he was considered a friend of jehovah.. the israelites at the time were god's chosen ones.
since job wasn't one of them, does this prove that god accepts more than one religion?

I don't find the answers in the book of Job very satisfactory. It seems to me that they likely borrowed that story from the Babylonians.
