I met James Arness (Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke) on a riverboat in Germany back in the 1970s. He was very pleasant and friendly. I met Sterling Holloway (voice of Winnie the Poo, Kaa the snake in Junglebook and many others) on an airplane coming out of Hong Kong in 1972. He was surprised that I recognized him since most folks know his voice but not what he looked like. I told him that I remembered him from the old William Bendix T.V. series and he responded ":They are all dead now.". I met John Wayne in an Officer's Club at Hurlburt AFB, FL. He bought me a drink. He was there making the movie "Green Berets"

Where exactly is Satan?
by IronClaw insince leaving the jw's most of us have also left most of their doctrine.
so that being the case, most of us have left the wt understanding of 1914. now you know that the wt claims that satan was hurled out of heaven in that year down to the vicinity of the earth.
so the question is: if 1914 is just another year to us, then what are your thoughts as to the whereabouts of satan and his followers?.

Pay it forward...
by AuldSoul inokay, so in line with the concept of the movie pay it forward, how can jws best save the most people?.
(1) murder is a sin.. (2) people who are repentant of sins are forgiven.. (3) people who go to hell (the common grave of mankind) are still alive in god's eyes, just sleeping.. (4) ergo, if a jw sends someone to hell the jw hasn't sinned.. now, that gets the basic doctrine stuff out of the way.. if every jw kills one thousand non-jw people there will be about 6,000,000 jws left.
if every one of these repents over the deaths of whichever ones didn't go to hell, they will have saved way more people than they ever can by preaching.. and, if by chance they miss out on everlasting life by helpig someone else to attain it: no greater love has any.... any questions?

There is a great new book out now, available on Amazon.Com, called "WHAT GOD WANTS" by Neale Donald Walsh. The answer is surprising simple. When you read it you will know that he is right. Neale Walsh is the guy who wrote "Conversations With God" . The problem is that the God portrayed in the bible is ALL WRONG! I'm with Big Tex. Why in the world would I want to worship a God as portrayed in the Old Testament?.

Musing over What is Karma, Rebirths, and the Illusions of the Senses
by frankiespeakin ini have finally had a little time to pause for some reflection, lately been either sick(flu) or fighting fatigue to get work done while sick with the flu.. one of my favorite pastimes is to tune into jwd and read all your arguements for and against things of the paranormal nature, mysticism, evolution, and things like these.
i do enjoy those that are of a scientific shaped logic and lean more heavily towards some of their well thought out replies, i see them as open minded for the most part, and know i would never be able to research to the degree they do the subject of evolution and patiently try to deal with some rather set in their ways creationist.
they have brought a wealth of information to our board, that no doubt help many rid themsevles of the god(of the bible) delusion, a rather mean and nasty delusion that many jws need to shake to make thier coming out of mind control more complete.. while i have given up on the god delusion pretty completely, i have not become a complete materialist.

Here is a poem by Ella Wilcox who was the author of so many favorite Christian Hymns.
God and I in Space Alone God and I in space alone and nobody else in view…
"And where are the people, oh Lord," I asked, "The earth beneath, the skies overhead and the dead whom I once knew?" "Nay those were but dreams," God smiled and said,
"Dreams that have ceased to be true. There were no people living or dead - there was only myself and you." "And why do I feel no fear," I asked,
"Seeing You here this way?
For I have sinned I know full well . . . And is there a heaven and is there a hell?
And is this the judgment day??" "Nay, those were but dreams," the great God smiled, "Dreams that have ceased to be. For there were no such things as fear and sin - And you - yourself, you have never been For there is NOTHING AT ALL BUT ME!!!!." by - Ella Wheeler Wilcox -

I agree with sspo. You can't force spirituality on anyone. However, Spirit has nasty little ways to get ones attention. Leave that in God's hands. Your situation could be worse. My wife is a full time Pioneer and I am a regular attender and leader in the Unity Movement. She will not darken the door to my church and I won't go to hers except for special occassions (mostly funerals). Although my kids were raised as JWs, almost all are now out. My wife blames me for that and I'm sure I had some influence on them. You wouldn't be in your marriage relationship with him if he didn't have something to teach you.

JWs funerals.......forget about the dead person lets preach!
by new boy ingod forbid you would talk about the person at his funeral............what do most people get after living 70-80 years..........a 5-10 minutes eulogy....................the transition statment is "let me tell you about what fred really believed in".............................45 minutes later.....that way the specker can count his time.. as we know people in the organization are unimportant living or dead.

"At Best a Morass of Confusion and at Worst Outright Lying and Dishonesty."
by scout575 in"a major turning point took place at work where i met some jehovah's witnesses, and convinced myself that they were wrong, started to get seriously into theology and so forth.
i felt that the church of england was too feeble, and moved on via a roundabout route into a highly structured, independent charismatic church, where i remained for seven lonely and depressing years.
i eventually left the church in disgust at a huge and ugly falling out among the leaders, but i still believed, and went as a visitor to a number of churches for the next ten years or so.".

Sounds to me like you have made a good start on lifting yourself out of religiosity and setting your feet on the path to spirituality. Don't give up, you are halfway there. I no longer consider myself a Christian either as I can't subscribe to what the overwhelming majority of them teach. Their structure is based on Separation Theology. I would recommend that you read a book called "WHAT GOD WANTS" by Neale Donald Walsch. It will give you a new outlook on what is going on. The answer to the question is surprising and simple.

Petition To Make Refusal of Blood on Religious Grounds Illegal
by Kenneson inin montreal, canada in late dec. jean-claude lavoie refused a blood transfusion and died.
his decision has split his family apart--the father respecting his son's decision.
his brother, jonathan, a former jehovah's witness has since launched an internet campaign calling on the government to make it illegal for a person to refuse blood transfusions on religious grounds.

jinjam is correct on this one with his quote on political extremism. Could it be that the problem is neither political or economic, but spiritual? Could it be that the basic problem is what we believe about God and about our relationship to God and our relationship to each other? It is not possible to legislate morality. Governments can set up rules to protect society but shouldn't delude themselves that morality is involved.

Very dangerous ground to make the refusal of blood illegal. What comes next? Shall we make the refusal of chemo illegal for folks that have cancer? What if the person forced to take a blood transfusion gets a blood borne disease as a result of that transfusion? Who will be responsible for that? Whose body is it anyway? Do you really want to give some doctor who doesn't want to be bothered to practice careful surgery the control over your body? I can see the Pharmaceutical companies licking their chops over this one. Perhaps we can make it illegal to refuse medications for various diseases. Never mind the side effects.

The term refers to section of the tax code. It is a method of funding retirement that allows deferal of income tax until withdrawals begin. Many companies contribute to their employees 401K which allows it to grow faster. It goes with you should you leave that company, that is it can be rolled over into another tax deferred account.
