Shaddap You Face
by minimus inin 1980 a song was out on the radio called shaddap you face.
it was supposed to be a fun song mimicking italians saying what sounded like shut up a your face.. i remember having parents bringing their children to me for counsel because their kids would giggle and sing this song.
some jw parents thought it was a terrible song, disrespectful and ungodly.. i remember telling one hardline parent that i kind of thought the song was funny and that it might not be such a big deal.

I've Completely Abandoned My Principles~~For Gals

she never wore much makeup.
i played around with makeup for awhile as a teen but once i grew up, it began to bother my conscience.

i'm lazy when it comes to makeup. bit of face cream in the mornings when i get out of the shower is usually as complicated as it gets these days.
but if i'm going to push the boat out i like the mineral powder foundation cos you can just apply it with a brush and not worry about blobbing blending and caking. (moisturising 20 minutes before you do it gives a better finish) its user friendly and you get a good finish whether youre a novice or a pro when it comes to makeup.
i mix in a light yellowy gold eye dust to the powder for under my eyes cos i tend to get dark circles, the yellow gold wipes them out, (stole that idea from the citrine twist on qvc i always meant to buy one day but never got round to)

Live music in the Kingdom Halls
by Quillsky ini recall being young and having a lovely solo pianist accompanying the singing in our hall.. in around the late 70's the obligatory (canned, sad) recorded music replaced live musicians.. anyone have any more detailed memories of live music and the subsequent changeover?.

Bad time here
by Decided inmy life is in a bad state right now.
i'm in debt so far i will never get it paid off, can't even make the payments.
my two step kids are living with me right now, both are going through a bad marriage.

ken there comes a time when you have to help yourself before you can help others else theres nothing left to give,
its not fair youre under such pressure, maybe theres a way of persuading the kids theyd be better off pooling rescources and sharing a place together while theyre going through their 'tough patches' cos much as you can love kids having them move back in later in life can be pretty hard going on everyone concerned.
i think outlaw nailed the visitor thing a while back...theyre like fish and go off after 3 days.(even if you love them)

What's the biggest lie/rumor that has ever been told about YOU?
by VampireDCLXV inmost of us here know what a hypocritical, backstabbing bunch of gossips many of the jw's tend to be.
far too often, a jw wont tell you to your face what's eating them, but they'll sure tell others.
when i started waking up (the second time around) this made me very paranoid.

An Apology to Snowbird

so here is my apology to snowbird exactly as i wrote it.. it's been brought to my attention a number of times that my comment to you on your "swan song" thread was offensive and uncalled for.

Murder in the Bible.
by Mall Cop inthe story of cain and able in chapter four of the bible takes up about sixteen lines or verses of the bible.. it is arguably history's most famous murder.. but the story is silent about one key detail: the weapon cain used to kill his brother.. it's not a rock, or a sharpened stone.
yes, there was blood.. and to this day, the world's first murder weapon is still lost to history.. why has the writer/ writers left this important information out?.
afterall to charge someone with murder you need to have a murder weapon.. are there any other murders in the bible where the weapon used is unknown and or lost to history.. blueblades/mall cop.

The Sleeping Spirit Doctrine...Can "You" Survive?

just before she died, she was inundated by reading material from my aunt (who's jw).
it made her think of the cold clay in the grave as her destination after death, even if it was temporary.
