why did we allow a bunch of men to dictate to us not only what we believed, but even how we parented our kids, and then even how we spent our free time?????

yup, used to work nights on nursing agency, friday nights and saturday nights were best cos i got saturday rate for most of friday night plus unsociable hour rate plus the psychiatric lead enhancement (danger money) sundays were good if the monday was a bank holiday as opposed to a normal monday, cos then i'd get anything after midnight at bh rate.
i could earn more by doing those nights than i could slogging it out all week on normal day rates.

nice symbols on the back
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_of_Asclepius
The rod of Asclepius ( ? ; sometimes also spelled Asklepios or Aesculapius), also known as the asklepian, [ 1 ] is an ancient symbol associated with astrology, the GreekgodAsclepius, and with medicine and healing. It consists of a serpent entwined around a staff. The name of the symbol derives from its early and widespread association with Asclepius, the son of Apollo, who was a practitioner of medicine in ancient Greek mythology. His attributes, the snake and the staff, sometimes depicted separately in antiquity, are combined in this symbol. [ 2 ] The Rod of Asclepius also represents the constellation Ophiuchus (or Ophiuchus Serpentarius), considered by some to be the thirteenth sign of the sidereal zodiac. Hippocrates himself was a worshipper of Asclepius. [ 3 ]

Unbelieving spouses and blood treatments.
by garyneal insometime back, my wife and i discussed the possibility that i may wind up in a hospital with a condition that would require a blood transfusion to ensure my best chance for survival.
i asked her if i was unconscious and could not make the decision myself, what would she do?
her response was something along the lines of, "i will try to get the best treatment you can get.

I've asked my wife's elder about this and he told me that there are laws to protect children. .....uh...oh again
theocratic warfare....those who deserve/need to know...or not, guess in your case that would be a not.
jws will fight those laws designed to protect children. he was giving you the standard fob off.

"I will try to get the best treatment you can get." uhoh!
she continued to dodge my basic question of, "Would you permit the blood treatment?"
you really need to do what carla says and sort out a representative that can and will follow your wishes.
and if you've got any children it may be worth sorting theirs out or getting legal advice just in case emergencies ever arise.
