WHY? WHY? WHY?
by Reopened Mind inthats the question i keep asking myself once i began learning the truth about the truth.
one definition according to merriam-websters collegiate dictionary is the body of real things, events, and facts.
another (often cap) is a transcendent, fundamental or spiritual reality.

Went to a strange funeral today
by startingover inwent to a funeral today for a lady that has not been associated with the jw's for many years, and her husband has probably just been on the fringe of association, their children have been out for a long time.
so they had the funeral at a funeral home, the place was full of family, jw's and other friends.
in the newspaper obituary they referred to it as a celebration of life.

*but that everyone gets a resurrection*
i heard this at my non jw grandads funeral given by an elder, who waffled on about how my nan could look forward to seeing my grandad resurrected.
my grandad had spent most of their married life rejecting/avoiding her recruitment tactics and was the definition of jw 'armageddon fodder'
utter jw talking out of two sides of mouth bollox!

thats lovely, and nice the man whose bag he found gave hime something and is now volunteering with homeless,
this homeless guy helped someone too, just a shame someone helped themselves while he was helping someone else
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-11801147
A homeless man who jumped into the Thames in central London to save a drowning woman had his clothes stolen while he was in the river.
Adan Abobaker, 37, heard the woman crying out as he walked close to Blackfriars Bridge.
He managed to reach her and held her until a lifeboat arrived to ensure they both received medical treatment.
But his hat, gloves and flask had been taken from the riverbank, as well as a jumper which had sentimental value.
Martin Garside, from the Port of London Authority, said Mr Abobaker was "extremely brave and selfless" when he acted on Tuesday at about 2230 GMT.
"The River Thames at any time of year is harsh and unforgiving, and this was also in darkness," Mr Garside said.
"Thanks to his efforts, and the skill and professionalism of the nearby safety boat, tragedy was averted."
"My jumper was a present from my brother - it was the first ever present he gave me, so it was quite sentimental," he said.
"I just hope they went to a homeless person, and I hope they keep them warm."

WTS: creative days took aeons - WT Feb 15th, 2011
by undercover inthere's already a couple of threads discussing this particular issue of kool-aid version of the wt, but i just had to start another after reading about the creative days mentioned in this issue.. we debate from time to time if the wts has ever officially retracted their doctrine that the earth and all things created are less than 50,000 years old.
there's been some quotes that show them waffling on the age of the planet itself but still sort of holding to the notion of all creation happening within a defineable 7 day period.
how long is a creative day?

Although the term aeon may be used in reference to a period of a billion years (especially in geology or astronomy), its more common usage is for any long, indefinite, period of time.
oops, armageddon just got put back.

Need Help From British Football Fans
by XJW4EVR ini have closely followed the premier league for the last 13 matchdays, and i am getting ready to pick a team that i will not only follow this year but for the foreseeable future.
i am not interested in chelsea, manchester u., manchester city or arsenal.
all four remind me of teams i loathe in american sports (cowboys, yankees, celtics).

The club was mentioned in a British advert for milk, in the 1980s, which briefly brought the club to the attention of the general public. [ 2 ] [ 5 ] The advertisement featured two young boys in Liverpool replica shirts and made reference to Accrington Stanley's obscurity in comparison to the former club's success at the time.
