Anyone else hear the rumor that they are beginning to sell some of the residence buildings in Brooklyn? I heard from a reliable source that 2 of the residence bldgs are on the market now or will be very soon. Also was told that they plan to "layoff" 1000+ in Brooklyn Bethel by years end. More emphasis on the ministry it seems as many are being asked to go to a particular place and pioneer.

How many dubs do you know who went to college, got a good paying job, then managed to pioneer somehow?
I know of a few actually. Now they are well off pioneers who drive nice cars and go on extravagant vacations but they are not viewed as materialistic because they are pioneering. What a freaking double standard!

i said this was indicative of the society as a whole.

Stilla I agree with you that there isnt enough shepherding. However I think based on the scriptures that thier system is all wrong. Even if you accept the stupid elder arrangement, Paul didn't make a sub category for them so IMHO this verse applies to within the elder body also. Not all of them should be shepherds because some quite frankly dont have the time or suck at it. I see now why "christendom" pays their clergy.

I think it depends on the congregation. In mine if you go to a 4 yr university you are viewed as not having the pioneer spirit by the elders. You are questioned as to why a trade school wasnt sufficient which is stupid because the median price of a house in our territory is like $450,000. Can't pay that kind of mortgage working at McDonalds.
In a congregation the next circuit over all the kids go to 4 yr college, even the elders kids.. So it just depends.

For my parents, not a chance. They non-chalantly breezed by 1975 and the generation change didnt even cause a discussion between them. For my wife...I am working on it but I do think she still believes the doctrines though I dont think she enjoys actually being a JW. Who really does honestly??

Do JW's elders really want to know what kind of "sexual activities" you did
by booker-t ini know many ex-jw elders out there have the first hand knowlege of this but i was wondering do the elders really want to know everything you did when you were engage in sexual activity that got you in front of a judicial committee when you were a jw or now.
i have heard horror stories of the elders wanting to know did the person have an "orgasim" did they perform "oral sex" did they perform "anal sex" etc; i can't believe that a person could be so "nosy" as to want to know what a person did in the bedroom.
i know a girl who is now df that i work with and she said that one of the elders asked her what size penis did her boyfriend have and did she prefer "small" or large penises.

Actually Stilla the last one had several parts on shepherding. I just dont think the elders are doing it. Besides I mean honestly, is there really time to do shepherding calls the way they tell you to do it? I know I dont have time between working 40+ hrs a week, 3 meetings a wk, F/S on the weekends, and spending time w. wife and kids.The whole system doesnt work, this is the reason why it says in 1 Cor.. or somewhere that "some will be given as teachers, some as shepherds, some as evangilizers" not every single elder or publisher for that matter is qualified to do all of it and yet that is what's expected of elders by the WTS. It cant be done.... P.S that and also its a destructive cult.

Cheap Looking Bibles

just the other day my inlaws sent my husband a new watchtower society bible .
it has the cheapest plastic cover i have ever seen.

Yes they just released that soft-cover bible a short time ago. Obviously to cut costs and this is why they cut the awake down to one issue per month now. I find it comical that they actually tried to pass that one off as "More Emphasis on the Bible" even had a whole service meeting part for it.

So how does the Governing Body represent the FDS?
by jaredg ini was just browsing through the organizational manual and nowhere did i see the procedure for how the gb receives information for the anointed around the world.
it seems reasonable to me that there would be some sort of arrangement for the fds to present "new light" to the gb.
anyone know how this is done or even if it is?

The entire FDS arrangement is a farce when its very clear that it was another of Jesus parables nothing more. How is it that all those other parables he used is never taken literally? Where's the logic?
