Just now heard a rumor of a new study publication from a friend who emailed me asking if I had heard anything about it. Apparently a friend of his told him that it was announced to the Bethelites. Anyone else hear about this rumor?

Despite all the articles and talks lately about how oral sex is still porneia I know for a fact that many of the JW youth's are still doing it.
The reason's: They don't study themselves so they dont know its fornication, their parents don't study with them so they don't know its fornication, they don't pay attention at meetings where its said that oral is porneia.
I can only conclude that today's JW youth's simply dont give a rat's ass about the "truth" anymore.

of it and if there is no improvement on your part, you can kiss good bye to your eldership.
Yes that is my plan... in fact I will "french kiss" it goodbye and good riddance!

As long as the "Publishers" don't complain you can go on for years
Rooster, good point. I think that most of the publishers like me as I am down to earth...normal if you will. I suspect that some of certain elders relatives will be quick to state the obvious about my abscence to "daddy" or "uncle" so I may not have years...or months who knows.
Jeff: I don't know what I should do.. I have stopped going to meetings as often and service as much because I just can't stand it. I hate it and its all a waste of my time. Truth is my wife likes the status that being elders family bestows upon us and I don't fault her for it, what else can women strive for in this cult especially since she hates pioneering. I don't want to be an elder anymore but if I step aside she may not like it. I guess I am kinda hoping they notice whats going on and ask for my resignation. Then I will remain a publisher in name only.

How long until they really start cracking down on me? Any former/current elders especially. I am currently an elder and basically miss at least one meeting a week and never go out in service on Sundays and seldom on Saturdays.
A few of my fellow elders have already started the: "How are you?" "Everything ok with you?" and the PO already tried unsuccessfully to "sit with another elder and talk to me". I basically kept cancelling on him and then eventually called and said that I was just under stress from work. He then pulled the "well we just wan't you to know that we are all here if you ever need to talk.
So what do you think, how long do I have before the shit hits the fan?

another Elder's Meeting memory...
by sibboleth inanother story that i'd like to share.
however, since he is a pioneer - maybe he should be the service overseer and br.
superfine is not doing things still ?

How would you have corrected this? I was a newbie elder following the lead of the more "spiritual" men. I feel like a couple of you are upset with me for not doing something
I feel for you, being a party to some acts of injustice myself. All of you who were fortunate enough not to serve as elders need to realize that only if you are in that situation can you really understand. Easier said than done people....especially in a mind controlling cult.

I feel bad about being a part of this...
by sibboleth inseveral years ago, approx 1995, i was a newbie elder - age 29 and was just doing the "yes man" duties around the hall.
there was the overbearing po who was the "king" of the congo and whatever he said was gospel... if he didn't like you - you were history... needless to say - i kissed his butt and moved up the ladder quite easily.
we had another newbie elder - in his late 40's - and he was a smart man.

Sounds like my current congregation.... I'd tell stories like this too, I have many of them but I don't want to be found out by anyone since I would have to be pretty specific. Nice to see that the so-called spiritually directed elder arrangement also doesn't work in other congs. I am still an elder now and they are starting to get suspicious... "how are you?" "we haven't seen you in service on sunday lately" "is everything ok..do you need help from any of us (other elders)?" Idiots!

POLL: The OT God and the NT Jesus (for non-believers as well!)
by DeusMauzzim indo you still believe that yhwh from the old testament is a god of love?.
what is your opinion about the jesus of the new testament?.
i'm not asking if you believe they exist(ed)... just a character analysis based on what you read in the bible.. regards,.

Based purely on reading the bible while trying to ignore WT influence (which after almost 40 yrs is tough) I came to the conclusion that Jehovah of the OT is in fact a loving god to people he choose's to be namely the israelites. However he encouraged the slaughter of countless innocent "pagans".
As for Jesus... honestly Jesus is god almighty. The tetragrammaton isn't found much in the NT because its there in the meaning of Jesus name "YHVH is salvation". This point though I still go back and forth about though since the WT's argument for Jesus being only the son is logical but only up to the point where you realize that they changed the meaning of some scriptures by adding words such as [other] , a god, etc. when referring to Jesus. Also they aren't consistent with their translation of the greek word for lord to Jehovah in the NT as they leave it out in a few places where it the context refers to Jesus. Its all very confusing but I tend to believe that the WT is trying to cover something up to protect their doctrines. Somethings fishy..
