Judicial Committee Meetings Sexual Matters
by Celestial inanyone had three elders (judicial committee) question you on sex before marriage?.
case in point, being raised as one of jehovah's witnesses, i partied with peers that were witnesses by tradition, inherent faith.
at the age of eighteen (1992), i was conversing about the elders with a group of witnesses, and a girl who had been before a judicial committee chimed in and said, they ask questions that are none of their fucking business.

MIB I do it to keep my wife happy. I know many here would say that I have a sham marriage based on lies but I care deeply for her and I know she wont leave because almost her entire family are JWs...elders, pioneers, bethelites, etc. She is not a "diehard" JW and will even complain about things on occasion but "apostasy" NEVER! When I wasnt serving for about 2 yrs because we moved to a different cong. she begged me to reach out again and was very quarralsome with me. So when the elders asked me if I was reaching out (they tried to reappoint me after a couple mos but I told them no) I reluctantly said yes and was reappointed the next CO visit. I basically sit there, dont volunteer for anything, do my assignments nothing more. Its annoying but surviveable.

CO begging for more MS's
by life is to short inthe co is at my husbands hall this week so i tied in to the meeting he was going on and on about how there are 140 elders in the circuit and only 80 something ms's.
of the elders 25 are over 75 years old.
of the ms's it was about 20 are over 75 years old.

I think he's correct, in my cong we have almost twice as many elders as MS's and the majority of the elder body is under 50. In fact half are under 40. I noticed a trend towards many elders currently in their 30's and 40's.
The reason I think is in 1995 these now 30's and 40's elders were pioneers and MS's and we were all reaching out and pioneering or going to bethel because...... THE WORLD WAS ENDING BECAUSE THOSE WHO WERE PART OF THE 1914 GENERATION WERE FREAKING OLD! Now there is no desire to expend yourself in anything WT. After 1995 most childeren from that time period grew up and went to college or got married and had kids and went to work. Really if you think about it I am correct. Thats why there are a bunch of very old elders and many in their 30's and 40's. As far as MS's you can forget about it.

A Sincere Questions for Current/Former WTBTS Elders/Pioneers...
by AGuest inmay you all have peace!.
i would like to know something, if you will indulge me, please - thank you!
to what extent did you, as a jw... read/know the contents of the bible?
-

I too read the bible diligently until I became an elder. Once you get appointed you are so busy with other crap that bible reading fades. I know thats not an excuse but thats reality. Now even when I do my talks/parts, etc. I am on auto pilot. Most if not all of it is re-hashed garbage anyway.

10/15/11 WT Has The Crackdown On Football Started?
by yourmomma ini've always felt that its only a matter of time before the watchtower cracks down on football (american, although soccer seems like its also referenced).
its been one of the few things jw's can do, which means it has slipped under the radar since as we know, there are very few things that are not frowned upon or banned in watchtower world.
we know that almost 99% of movies are wrong according to the standards of the watchower, and this is again mentioned in this article, but it seems like also football is in the cross hairs.

Speaking from experience, most JWs hear this during the WT study and dont even realize what its saying. Nobody cares, seriously, they could say drink poisoned kool Aid at the next meeting and nobody will remember to do it. I would guess at least...at LEAST 75-90 percent of JWs go to the meetings becasue they are expected too and to be left alone by their pompous-ass GO (group overseer) who will call and say "oh I missed you today.." lol

Aug. 15th WT - WT Society Dissing Internet Again - All JW's Beware !
by flipper inwe always know when the gb or wt leaders are nervous and worried about potential alleged " threats " to jehovah's witnesses - because they repetitively keep mentioning these perceived " threats " in talks at assemblies or in wt articles constantly.. the " witness only " august 15th wt is no different.
in a non-study article entitled " the internet - making wise use of a global tool " once again the wt society instills doubt and fear into witnesses by " warning " them about use of the internet.
3 " while the internet can provide valuable information, save us time, and serve a useful function, it can also misinform us, consune an inordinate amount of our time, and corrupt us morally.

Why then is the WT spending man hours and expense to publish literature on their websites? Isnt that a contradiction? They are making more and more use of the internet, but becareful how much time you spend using it... hmmm

JW's who remain in the organisation but try to reform it - pissing against the wind
by jambon1 ini came across a website that presents decent argumentation against three main areas of jw doctrine.. http://jwreform.org/index.html.
who do these people think they are?
do they really believe that the wts will sit up and take notice of their objections?
-

Reform is too high of an expectation for this "religion". They are making changes though slowly. I seen a trend to more progressive thinking since the old members of the GB started dropping like flies the passed 5-10 yrs.
1. No BS (yes book study but it was bullsh*t as well)
2. More practical counsel in WT's instead of go out in service azzwhole
3. Seperating of private bullsh*t from public bullsh*t
4. More and more use of digital media, streaming media. Including talk outlines, forms, elder forms, kms, etc (this would have been unheard of if no new blood was on GB)
I am sure there are more but thats what I can think of now. They are not reforming their doctrines persay but the procedures are changing.

Do Active Witnesses Find Meetings Exciting?
by Band on the Run inkh meetings were utter hell.
the boredom, particularly for a child, was awful.
i feel it was a form of child abuse.

The meetings suck and they all know it. Its rehash week after week after week. Even the WT articles are based for a large part on the district convention talks. I think most people go to the meetings because they are expected to.
