I was 15 and living at home with Elder Dad and Pioneer mom. I do recall mom discussing the Time magazine blurb about it with Dad and wondering what was up.

Donation Changes-Elders Meeting
by XBEHERE inso we had our elders meeting to discuss the 3/29 lboe...it was was many of you expressed.

You are right about that...I used to be one of those tow the liner's. The feeling that I got during that meeting was that our BOE would do as told, period. This is the scary part of this cult, nobody openly questions anything the CCJW says and remains in for very long. Your family will be told that you are satanic and to shun you. Ex- Elders are treated worse than publishers in many cases since they "should know better.."

kate I have compartmentalized my "service" as an elder and I am honestly trying to be as helpful to people as I can. The JW's in my hall can sense that I am a little different I hear so many comments like "you are so understanding" "you are one of the cool elders" etc. etc.
I know that this is a cop out and pretty much I am living a lie but its what I feel I have to do in order to maintain my family situation. I really wish I had the "balls" to do what some on here have and just come clean to my wife and kids but I dont think it would end well for me. The loss of my family would break my heart.
As for the meeting we had... they will never say what they really feel, because like me, they know it would be the end. Some of them truly are deluded and convinced that GB is God. So sad but hey its their choice.

So we had our elders meeting to discuss the 3/29 LBOE...it was was many of you expressed. Below are some of the quotes from the elders:
"We just need to keep the focus on Jehovah's work, remind the friends of this"
"What a nice change, now everyone will be able to afford a new KH or Ass Hall"
"We can now offset our poorer brothers lack of funds in a more proper way"
lol.. one thing is for sure among the diehard JW's GB=Jehovah
No matter what they change it will always seem to be the correct thing to do.

A preist , Pastor , or minister of religion that uses the Bible or an i-pad , who in your eyes would command your respect .
by smiddy ini ask this because of an experience over the weekend when two witnesses came to my door , and he tried to use his i-pad to witness to me, which i wasnt intersted in.. my theory is this is going to backfire on them .
the majority of people in christendom , whether they practice it or not have a reverence , if not a deep respect for the written word , the bible , as a holy book.
a sacred book.. i dont beleive a householder who is a christian is going to be impressed by someone who quotes scriptures from an i-pad.. religous books have been considered sacred for centuries , their is an awe about them .

I think the up and coming generations will be accepting of media delivered in digital format more than current ones. Its just a matter of time. I am not defending the use of iPads or not however I used them at the meetings that I still attend and find it extremely convenient as do more and more people. Sure there will always be die hard paper users but technology forges ahead.
