Unless I missed a letter or two I'd cry b/s on this one.
The re-branding process is in full effect though so I am sure there are more changes ahead, the Eld-Whores just don't about it yet.
i just turned in my resignation letter to my congregation a few weeks ago.
last week, 2 elders called me to say they received my letter and would like to meet with me to discuss my concerns.
in my letter, i said i had found out about all the child abuse cases that were going on and that i didnt agree with their policy of disfellowshipping.
Unless I missed a letter or two I'd cry b/s on this one.
The re-branding process is in full effect though so I am sure there are more changes ahead, the Eld-Whores just don't about it yet.
hi, i am also a practicing jehovah's witness and very proud of it,to say the very-very least..!
i am a middle-aged man with many decades of being a witness of jehovah god in england.. this important letter is personally to you, just as many of the bible's 88 letters are to be taken personal by you the reader.
i am writing to you to urge you to take stock of your life, think what your future holds for you.
Sparks please let your body of elders know that you posted on this site so that you can experience the full force of the loving concern that they will show you.
isn't it sickning when normaly people in the cong don't even speak to you.
but when the co visits comes they want to shake your hand and even (cringe) hug you?
then as soon as he leaves back to normal.
On a typical Saturday, there might be 30 or 40 people out in service.
Wow, what a "spiritual" congregation. In my cong Saturdays if you add all the groups up are maybe 20-25. CO forget it, as others aleady posted it goes way up. Bunch of kiss asses and its only going to get worse now that the CO has even more power.
well, that seems to be the latest hot thing amoung witnesses.
everybody buys a tablet.
even the poor families that eat carb heavy meals are gettin' em.. maybe they can't afford the latest apple product like the maxi/mini pad or whatever they're calling it these days so a trip to ebay or overstock.com fills the bill.. use it instead of a songbook.
I am in the technology field for work so I have been into the tablet since before the first iPad came out in 2010. Few realize that PC manufacturers were making laptops years ago that could flip and around and turn into a tablet. The screen's were not capacitive (no multi-touch) and it was cumbersome and slow.
Since iPad I have been also using the increasingly popular Android devices and am quite satisfied. I'd say about 50-60% of my cong. uses tablets at the meetings. It's easier, less books to bring. Until the next big thing comes along tablets are here to stay. Use them..
when you were a witness, what did you do with your old watchtower (public/ study versions) and awake magazines?
i know for some throwing away a magazine is comparable to burning a quran.
i never threw them out!
I did and still do recycle them. I had an aunt that would use them on the bottom of her parakeet's cage.
i'll wager that the number is close to 100 percent.
what number?
the number of jws who have lists--lists of things that make them go hmmm or even wha'???
Many things over the years. Most recently:
1. 2 Witness Rule doesn't work for certain CRIMES. Pedophiles seldom have witnesses, its a crime report it.
2. Elders appointed by holy spirit...Really?
3. Bashing Higher Education yet they send a letter out to all elders asking if there any with special skills that can work for free on their Warwick project.
4. Blood fractions... lol What does abstain mean? I like the ham sandwich illustration in Ray Franz's book.
5. "This generation.." wtf?? Please make up your mind and please have it make sense.
i believe in god but i'm not sure of anything....what about you?.
Not sure but leaning slightly more towards his existence. I am however 100% convinced that the WT (FD&S) has it completely wrong.
gone are the days of getting into discussions about their beliefs.
doing major research to prove a position or watchtower doctrine is a thing of the past.
all they want from you is to surrender and accept everything they say as undeniable truth.. do you agree?.
agree and this is part of what keeps people in. If you are finacially well off, popular in the congregation... what need do you have to question doctrine or to leave even if it doesn't make sense.
do you feel the counseling demands placed on elders are fair and scriptural?.
i live in an economically depressed industial city.
my dad is an elder in a lower income black congregation.
Not at all.
do you think they are zealous?.
happy, joyful?.
pessimistic, depressed?.
Indifferent. Like theredeemer said some are excited about all these bs campaigns, some are like "ehhh" Personally I don't see the same pre 1995 urgency anymore.
I think the first "This generation" change really knocked the wind out of many JWs sails. Its beginning to show now as these who experienced that change first hand are less excited about their own children now growing up with the constant carrot dangling mentality and education bashing. I really think that the 1995 generation change was a game changer, now there is no urgency and it shows.
