WTS Brooklyn properties for sale
by XBEHERE inanyone else hear the rumor that they are beginning to sell some of the residence buildings in brooklyn?
i heard from a reliable source that 2 of the residence bldgs are on the market now or will be very soon.
also was told that they plan to "layoff" 1000+ in brooklyn bethel by years end.

What I am referring to is not this 360 Furman sale which was used for shipping not for housing. They are going to start or already have started to sell the actual buildings that the bethelites are/were housed in. This is big since they never did this before, in the past they were always buying small brownstones around Brooklyn Heights to accomodate them. Times are changing.

April KM - Handbill Distribution
by stillajwexelder inwell it is official - the april km has the details of the handbill campaign.
we are to be given 50 handbills each and start a distribution for 3 weeks before the district convention.
we are supposed to cover our entire territory.

I guess they really think that people will actually come to these things especially with a kooky, cult-like title to the talk. Maybe some who receive the hadbill will ask if they should bring nike sneakers with them so that they can fall "asleep" and wait for the comet to come.

Judah Ben Schroeder
by startingover innot too long ago this thread was started: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/108750/1894427/post.ashx#1894427.
it started me thinking about what it must have been like for him being raised as a gb member's only child at bethel.
now i had a father that was at the forefront of the society's activites, and i know about some of the "perks" that come with that.

I know its dated however if you read the posting he was asking about his early life. It was confirmed already that he is in law school.

*** w88 3/1 p. 16 My Life in Jehovah’s Spirit-Directed Organization ***Sharing
in Married LifeWhile attending the "Triumphant Kingdom" conventions in Europe in 1955, I renewed my acquaintance with dear Charlotte Bowin, who had been one of my students in the first class of Gilead in 1943. She served for 12 years as a faithful missionary in Spanish territory, including Mexico and El Salvador. Now, along with her partner Julia Clogston, she was attending these European conventions. Incidentally, Charlotte’s parents had been members of the Brooklyn Bethel family when they were both single, back in Brother Russell’s time. Then, when they married, Martin Bowin became a traveling overseer until Charlotte was born in 1920.
In January 1956 Charlotte entered Bethel service and was transferred to Kingdom Farm. In August 1956 we were married. When Charlotte became pregnant, we were downhearted, believing that this would end our full-time service. However, Brother Franz encouraged us, saying: "You haven’t sinned in making the womb fruitful. Take courage! It may be that Jehovah will arrange for you somehow to continue in the full-time service."
So it turned out. I was able to continue on the Gilead School faculty. First we lived in a small rented apartment, and then in 1962 we moved into a newly built house located about a mile [1.6 km] from the school. There in South Lansing, New York, our son, Judah Ben, who was born in February 1958, spent his early years.
We had many joys in Judah Ben’s upbringing, as we always tried to apply Bible principles. (Ephesians 6:1-4) He was encouraged to follow Micah 6:8, even as I sought to apply that text in my life. Later, Judah became a third generation Bethelite and served at Bethel for 12 years. He was married to a lovely pioneer sister, Amber Baker, in June 1986. They now pioneer in Michigan.
This is from Albert Shroeder's life story. I guess either he was home schooled or went to upstate NY public schools, doesnt really say.

What Things Irritated You While A Witness?
by minimus ini used to hate it when i'd listen to brother blow give his long winded comment about how we're all supposed to do this or that----and he was barely considered a witness......we had a few elders, and especially the po who would go overtime just because they could.
the po's bookstudy always went overtime.
45 minutes into the meeting he was still on paragraph 3. and he would read every scripture including the ones quoted!!!

What still irritates me is that we call ourselves "christians" but christ is barely even discussed much less his example followed.
What also irks me is the inconsistency ,they can read that scripture where it says that "everlasting life is a free gift" and yet in the next sentence talk about how we have to do more and aux pioneer this spring so that we can show that we value this gift that we cant earn, yet we have to show by works that we value it. Or the scripture saying that our work is of value to us alone, not to be comparing to one another stirring up envies. If they really followed this then why report time? Why pioneer if not to show, by comparison, that you are doing more.

Hey Danny. Yes I had read that article about 360 Furman already. What I am referring to is the sale of actual bethelite residence buildings not factory or shipping buildings. This tells me that they are preparing for the massive "layoffs".

Could the GB be using this forum?
by Kristofer ini sometimes wonder if perhaps some of the higher ups in the organization are visiting this forum.
perhaps it has become a valuable source for them to "test the waters" before something goes public to see what the reaction would be?
am i overreacting?

I hope they are reading this site or at least being told its content by a higher up who can use the interner as Stilla mentioned. I would say to them that your oppressive, works oriented religion is faltering. Reduce the meetings to at least twice a week and stop collecting field service reports. There is no scriptural basis at all for all the meetings every week and handing in a report to the elders at the end of each month so please re-evaluate.
If they changed those 2 things I believe many would not leave, or in the very least it make it easier for people like me to tolerate still being in this religion.
