Special week of taking even more of your freetime away from you. How can Jah be the happy god if his so called "named" people are pushed so hard that they dont even have time to take a crap anymore.

Is stepping down from being an elder a big deal?
by Clam inrecently ive discovered that my brother in law has stood down from his position as an elder.
ive of course been intrigued but theres little chance of him discussing it with me.
however the other day my non jw mother (his mother-in-law) asked him why hes resigned from eldership.

Must have something to do with the Appointment™ being Directed by Holy Spirit™ - cuz we all know that the Holy Spirit™ never makes a mistake.....
This is so true Skully, they dont make it easy for you. Holy spirit HA! Its so funny though that when an elder is appointed that nobody expected or are surprised by instead of questioning the whole blasted arrangement many will just simply state "well Jehovah must see something in him so we should respect that" So stupid.

Funny thing is most people are worried more about where we're going to eat after the assembly than what the CA's theme is. I remember when I was younger, after every assembly day it was a popularity contest on who your going out to eat with......would it be the cool kids or the losers.....stupid!
Haha... its the same today, I just went thru this 2 weekends ago. I was wondering where we were going to eat too. It is still about the popular vs the unpopular....and yes it still is stupid.
Oh and Trojan yes I have "real world" experience of witnessing it firsthand makes me sick. The sad part of it is what power are they trying to get?? Stupid... utterly unscriptural and unchristian too.

What is the criteria for deleting congregations?
by TooOpinionated inafter reading another thread about a congregation being deleted, i am curious about the process.
i didn't even know it could happen.
how is it all decided?.

Not sure as it really doesnt happen often. It could be for the number of reasons already mentioned here.

I used to hate hosting for the week before CA. Instead of getting a meeting night off you have a freakin circuit visit! This is prime ass kissing time for the elders who want to get ahead in the org too, though a lot of the backstabbing and politics is reserved for the CO Visit. The elders and the CO want to put on a good show for the DO.

Anewme your thoughts are very insightful and I believe so true in many cases. So many elders wives suffer in silence I am sure. I agree with you, eldership should be a choice and one should be able to leave whenever he wants to but unfortunately this cult makes that difficult via peer pressure and social pressures. Let me tell you, once you know the truth about the "lie" being an elder is no picnic either.

Is it a big deal to step down from being an elder? I’ve been out so long that I don’t remember any similar case.
ii)
Is his reason good enough and wouldn’t this admittance bring some kind of admonishment for the two of them?
1) It is a big deal if the elder doing it seems to do it for no apparent reason. He will be regarded suspiciously and the other elders will try to encourage him to stay on at least until the CO visit so they can all discuss it (browbeat him into submission) with him. This is of course if the elder didnt do anything judicially wrong which in that case he will promptly be deleted.2) Generally speaking, his reason will suffice especially if your sister is known to be an "elderette" in the congregatgion. No offense of course but just telling how it is sometimes. In all likelyhood they will wait until the next CO visit anyway to discuss it with him more fully.

Elders comment regarding "apostates" at WTS 3 weeks ago
by XBEHERE inhe basically said that these opposers will even use wt literature to draw you away from jehovah but they use it out of context and misquote it.
the majority of the articles used on the internet that i have read either on here or other sites to prove how stupid the doctrines are have the entire article posted so how is that out of context?
such a hypocritical statement when this very tactic is peppered throughout their literature to begin with.

Or will they now have to impose censorship on even their own writings?
They practice a form of censorship already. On the WT Library cdrom the WT's only go back to 1950 and the Awakes to 1970. If you are seen to be reading older literature its "suspicious".

The majority of the articles used on the internet that I have read either on here or other sites to prove how stupid the doctrines are have the entire article posted so how is that out of context? Such a hypocritical statement when this very tactic is peppered throughout their literature to begin with.I guess I was the only one that got irritated by his comment so I had to go "use the bathroom" and sit in the library for the rest of the stupid meeting.
