fading is the only way to leave and maintain still in family realtionships. If you do that then all you have to put up with is the occasional mandatory talk by an elder/uncle at family get togethers about you coming back, you're causing your parents grief, blah blah blah. Then its all good and they will treat you pretty much normal.

Yes they used to make us take a freakin day off on Friday to get there at noon. OMG sucks so much, just my luck they will assign my cong. during the Thanksgiving 4 day weekend or During the Christmas season when I normally take off to use VAC days. Maybe I wont be serving by then....

I NEVER Hear A JW Talk About Never Dying & Living Forever In Paradise Anymore!
by minimus ini was raised with this belief, that we would never die and actually make it into the "new system".
mu faithful jw aunt still talked about my mother (her sister) and her walking together into the great tribulation--- and never die at all!
she spoke of that 2 days before she passed away.. i believe most witnesses expect to die and then get resurrected.

Make's sense. I would also add that many JW's don't really care nor really believe that the end is close. There are of course exceptions i.e. the die hard JW's such as CO/CO's Wife wannabes, the old Widow that longs to see her husband again, etc.
I am really convinced that a lot of JW's stay in because of social and familial relationships. Its become their culture, identity.

Lies taught by the GB about ....Life, Worldy people & apostates
by williamhconley inthe governing body not only lies to it's members about their true history but also about life itself, worldly people and former members.. here are some of those lies that come to my mind.. .
"jw's are the happiest people on earth" -.
fact: depression, anxiety, fear of punishment, paranoia, is what jw's live with every day.

How Were You Affected by All The Rules & Regulations From The Watchtower Society?
by minimus inthere are so many directives for elders, pioneers, ministerial servants and "publishers", it is mind boggling!!!.
to fulfill all of their expectaions, you would have to be perfect!.
i must say, that i really don't know how some do it, every day, ever week....i wonder how long some of the elders that frequent this board will still push the flock like the watchtower says they must..

I am primarily staying to maintain peace in my family, my wife is one of those types that likes the fact that her husband has status. If I get pushed out she may be more suseptible to my accusation that this organization isn't directed by god at all. At least I hope she feels that way.

I don't push the flock the way the WTS insists that we do, that is why I am sure my days as an elder are numbered . I already am on the radar of several on my body since I don't volunteer for things, I don't show up to congregation sponsored gatherings i.e. the end of the year pioneer festival to same one. I have chosen to do things this way because, well I guess I am a coward and can't confront them about my true feelings about the "truth". Being pushed out is easier in some ways..

Just got a call from an elder
by nolongerconfused inso i faded over a year ago...i told the elders that if i needed them i would call them.
1 year and 3 months later, today, i get a call from an elder who used to be my good friend...he calls and i dont pick up..he leaves a voicemail, saying "hello ____, please call me back at 444-444-4444 whenever you can".
i was like wow, this has to be one of those calls to get inactive ones back to the memorial.

Its most likely the pre-memorial inactive checkup call.

Black sheep of the family-my life as an ExJW
by bsand20 ini was a 3rd generation jw, half the congregation i attended was made up of my entire mom's side of the family, 2 of the 3 elders were my grandpa and uncle.
my first memory of the organization was when they announced my mom's name in the meeting saying she had been reinstated....it was 1988 and i was 6 years old....i didn't understand it then, but when i asked my mom why was she crying and why did they say her name in the meeting, she said "it's because i've been good!".
so she went back and after a period of time assisting constantly, she was reinstated.

Wow, amazing story. Welcome to the forum (I guess I missed when you first joined). Your story sounds eerily similar to my sisters except, unfortunately, she did come back. I applaud your stance and what you've done with your life.

For those who still attend- When was the last time you had a Congregation Picnic or Get together?
by BU2B init seems that in my neck of the woods there is no social interaction between jws outisde of fs and the kh.
the last get together was 3 summers ago.
other than that there is no bond.

Usually when people move and leave the congregation we'd have a gathering. Last one was quite a while ago. Some congregations are more sociable than others so it depends.
