You are very wrong, American urban myths are the worse when applied to England, you all seem to see us as we were 150 years ago, or from some quaint 18th Century period drama in an old English country house! Come to London for 6 months and you will see a highly modern city, over 320 languages spoken with a massive wealth of history, culture, and interest. Travel around the UK for 6 months; see the real England [i.e. London is not a good representation for the rest of England anymore than New York if for the whole US.]

Yes we get all the American stuff, good and crap, far too much of the crap. Teeth are just as good as Americans but you tend to obsess on the teeth and forge the brains! (Just teasing)

Happy man: I see you are still trapped in that catatonic state of ignorant bliss, you really need the ECT reality shock treatment and then the dark curtains will fall and the blinding light of reality will glare you in the face, then, and only then you will really see clearly what a terrible mess surrounds you—not an nice experience to have, but cathartic and very, very necessary one. Whether you wish to serve God sincerely, or get on with life without God, you can only do that with a full comprehensive knowledge of all the facts, and unfortunately you are still in blissful denial. Have you read Ray Franz’s books? They are a good basic starting point for balanced and reasonable examination of the Watch Tower Society. Until you allow your human questioning element to surface, you will never be open to reality.

the two different creation stories in genesis contradict each other in the matter of the order of the creation of man and vegetation.
in the first story, vegetation was created on the third day, and three days later man was created.
however, in the second creation story, there was no vegetation before man.

Thus, there is never is a period of time when there is land without surface water available to irrigate the land in the first creation story, while in the second creation story (Genesis 2:4-5) there is such a time period; this is a contradiction.
In Genesis 1:6–10 all it says is that God is separating land from sea—it doesn’t give any details on land irrigation, rain, mist, streams etc., just that he made land and sea as separate areas. In a new paragraph [1:11] it says: “Then God said, ‘Let land produce vegetation….’” But still gives no irrigation details. Logically he would have to have initiated some kind of system to produce the needed water requirements for plant life, be that streams/strong mist/fog etc. That would parallel with what we read in verse 2:6.
So in as far as: “never is a period of time when there is land without surface water.” I would disagree, verse 1:6–10 gives no information at all of a plentiful water supply or any plant growth whatsoever—so that would parallel with verse 2:5 describing the same situation.
So both accounts do give the same information, just from slightly differing angles—there is no direct contradiction.

I got mine from Amazon, and they came quickly. Don’t they ship to Australia? I can’t imagine why anyone would buy via their local bookshop and wait ages when they could get them from Amazon in a week or so.

well, it's almost 7pm in sydney australia and no doubt some congregations would be starting their memorials very soon, if not already.
due to the overcast conditions, i can't see the moon, but one of the special things about this time of the year is seeing the full moon, which reminds me of the specialness of the memorial ritual held for me as i was growing up.. this is the second time in my entire life that i will be absent from the memorial.
it was strange last year to be not attending for the first time ever, but this year i feel more comfortable about it.. i'm not sure why.
Well I’m having mine at home, I’m doing it out of respect for Jesus, but I’m never going to go to the Kingdom Hall again—I did go to last years at a hall, but that was the last. I have my home baked unleavened bread, and my mini bottle of red wine, and it’s 7pm here with a clear night and full moon.

What you really need, and what will help you the most is to get in touch with your inner instincts and refine—and tune up—your discernment in life. People only treat you the way you let them, and the proverbial words of Jesus say a lot: “Don’t give what’s holy to dogs… don’t throw your pearls before ignorant pigs…”
Refining your discernment in scanning and seeing what other people really are is one of the most important tools you can have for avoiding being hurt, used, and generally crapped on from a great height. The signals are usually always there when we meet people, but unfortunately most of us choose to ignore that gut instinct that zaps in to our consciousness in an instant when you meet someone new, or spend a while speaking with them. Learning to listen to that inner voice is what will help you avoid all the toxic people out there. The Kingdom Hall is no sanctuary, if your ‘inner alarm system’ was fully powered up, it would be going off constantly in the halls just as it would outside. The reason people who are not witnesses have hurt you, is because you made some bad choices, and that is one of the hardest lessons to learn, believe me I know. Many on this forum have commented how they are now ‘super-sensitive’ and their mind prods them when the smell of crap is in the air, they discern propaganda, lies, false reasoning, manipulation all the more now because they, and I, have learned all too well what it is to not listen to that inner voice, gut feeling, and subconscious alarm that is there to protect us.
Have you read any of Ray Franz’s books? If not I recommend you do—the sanctuary you crave is not in the Kingdom Halls, or the Watch Tower society. I see you have been burned badly by a horrible experience—why are you not listening to what that experience is teaching you? How many times do you have to put your hand in the fire before you realise the burning flesh and injury are the result of that action?
I understand where your insecurities come from, but you must realise that the Watch Tower knows exactly how to press the buttons to excite them—unless you disconnect those buttons, by learning non emotive reasoning, and also get a comprehensive education on the facts. The power is in your hand to have a happy productive life and not to have users/parasites, and other toxic people in your life. Many here can see they don’t want you to go straight back into a situation that will disempower you, and end up in more pain and disillusionment.
I really hope you find your inner voice, and listen to it, and also find a more objective view of the Watch Tower that is not blurred by emotive paradise pictures that are just there to play on your insecurities and put you under their control, which is the exact opposite of the freedom that Jesus said you are entitled to.

You have specifically missed out verse 2:6.
Now, since the other creation story author made it clear to his readers that vegetation growth requires water, we should also assume that the Genesis 1 author likewise expected his readers to understand that vegetation growth does not take place without water. Thus, when we learn from the Genesis 1 writer that water is created on the second day, and vegetation grows on the third day, it is clear that he expects us to understand that some of the water created on the second day was used for plant growth on the third day.And your exact points are fulfilled in verse 2:6: “But streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.” There you have it in your own words above: Water=Plant growth! Then after the ground supply of water had been initiated for the plants to grow we then see man was created. (Gen. 2:7) Both accounts of the same creation are the same—there is no contradiction.
After making it clear that water permitted vegetation growth by the third day, the Genesis 1 author tells that man was then created three days later:
1. Water was not used to grow vegetation anywhere on the whole earth before man was created. (According to the author of the second creation story.)Joseph, you can see from verse 2:6 that a plentiful supply of water had been established, and therefore abundant plant growth would follow this. If you flooded the Sahara desert with water, you would get the same results, a mass of vegetation would gradually take over the desert and you would never know it had been there in a few years. If God had sown the earth with billions of seeds, and all they needed to break their dormancy was a good supply of water, then they clearly had that in verse 2:6. This was all before man was created in verse 2:7. Therefore both accounts are the same, and there is no contradiction.
