i have just received back the email i sent to cnbc ages ago (before the us showing), and they have just informed me that it will air this weekend (6th july), at last!

A Newbie Introduction

i am a "newbie" that has been "lurking" and commenting on a couple of posts over the last six months.

i was somewhat intimidated by some of the comments on the board so i didn't feel comfortable in introducing myself.

since simon seems to be dealing with some of the more "aggressive" posters i felt the time had come to introduce myself.

If you have been a JW for so long you will need to detoxify yourself from all their programming. Your guilt is self created from beliefs you have allowed them to place in you, you will continue to feel this way until you re-evaluate your belief system. It will help you if you get some good information showing how God is not with the Watch Tower organisation, trust me this will help with the negative feelings a lot.

Here are three books I recommend for you:

'Crisis of Conscience' by Raymond Franz (He worked at the New York Bethel for 15 year, and was on the Governing Body for the last 9 of those years if you didnt know)

'In search of Christian Freedom' by Raymond Franz

'A Guide to Rational Living' by Albert Ellis, and Robert A. Harper.

They can all be found at Amazon, or ordered via a good bookshop.

I have checked the CNBC text page (184) on their text service, but the weekly listings are not up yet, they usually don't appear until Wednesday, but at least we have conformation that it will be on this weekend for those who have not seen the online QuickTime file version.

For those in Europe who cannot get Sky satellite, you will need to get the channel via the Astra 1E satellite: 10729.00MHz Vertical. Here is a footprint map of the area it covers.

UK Dateline on SKY

If you have Sky, or are in Europe and can get CNBC, you can check their programme listing by going to channel 510 (CNBC) on Sky, and press 'tv' and then 'text' and you will get the CNBC text service, then go to page 186. Normally you will just get one page appear, but later in the week they put the full Dateline schedule up which is between three and six pages (still on the main text page 186) they are just the flip pages that change by themselve.

Hope this is of some help, at least you don't have to waste time waiting up just in case, as you can now check to see what Dateline programmes are scheduled to air. Mind you, if the New York NBC office has decided not to put he JW programme in the international version it will never air over here, my feeling is that it will never get shown here.

forgive me if this information has already been put out but what is the situation for us brits wanting to see the dateline show?.

i've got the full sky digital package and see that dateline goes out on channel 510 (cnbc) but there is no clue as to our show.. any help?.

Can I just repeat it’s the New York office that puts together the international Dateline version that gets aired over Europe. The UK office for CNBC has nothing to do with putting together the segments in the international version of Dateline, they just air the finished show; so if we contact anyone it should be the Dateline international producers in New York, not the UK.

The only number I was given was the main switchboard for NBC in New York: 212-664-4444. (Or from the UK: 001-212-664-4444)

i had an idea that i could build a uk map of everyones location which would show you instantly who is in your area from jwd.. (it might be an idea to do a seperate us one aswell but i'll wait and see if this one takes off first, or if anyone from the us wants to volunteer to do that one).

(and australia but you are all in the same backyard anyway - literally!!!).

anyway, all you have to do is post or email me your username and town and i will draw you on the map above which will change gradually to include everyone!.

Dateline in UK-Europe

as has been mentioned before on this board,cnbc the european finance version of cnn which does have a few non finance programs will be screening dateline as usual at midnight on saturday.. the only question i have is will the dateline show we are eagerly awaiting be screened the saturay following the tuesday show or the saturday preeceding the tuesday show?.

i would have guessed it would be the saturday following,if not,then i have just missed it.. anyway i remember when most people ran analogue satelite that on the eutelsat hot bird satelite you used to be able to watch what was then called nbc super channel which ran a standard nbc schedule,i dont know if it is still available on analogue for anyone who still has analogue set up on hot bird.i think it changed name to nbc europe,in which case you could possibly see it tuesday night,anyway for most of us over here we can definately see dateline on cnbc on astra digital saturday night,or watch it on streaming video through nbcs website.

Well, I just phone the London office and spoke to someone in programming, and she said the European version is the international version, and they don’t schedule all the segments of the US national version on the international version, and also the international version (the one we see in the UK and over Europe) isn’t put together there until weeks after the US national version.

She did say it’s up to the New York office for the international Dateline programming. So maybe we need to grovel to them to get them to put it in the international version that will air over Europe. Does anyone know a contact that could help?
