The only thing I have planned is the 3-day Bob Dylan tribute fest over Memorial Day weekend at a nearby winery.

I started taking college courses at a community college in 1987 when my employer offered to pay my tuition. I was still a JW at the time, but had severe doubts. It was a long process, I finally got an associates degree in Business Administration in 2003. There were a few years in there where I didn't take any courses, so it was an off-and-on thing. i certainly got no support on it from my JW ex. Basically, any time she saw me trying to study she would go out of her way to start a fight about something so I couldn't get any studying done. I finally finished the degree after we divorced and I remarried.
I continued taking courses after I got the A.S., this time with Moody Bible Institute. I should be on line for my B.S. in Biblical Studies with the class of 2009 at the age of 57.
And they told me I'd never finish college before Armageddon got here...

Don't understand a WT teaching? It's probably not important anyway:
by easyreader1970 infrom august 1, 1980 wt:.
is some point we have trouble in understanding really important?
does it affect the truly important things we have learned with the help of the "slave" class?

I had the elders tell me that some of the issues I had doubts about were not important, and why would I let such minor issues spoil my service to Jehovah, yadda yadda...
But if they would disfellowship me for disagreeing with the organization's teachings on these "minor" issues, that makes them matters of life and death, doesn't it?

The signs outside at Wallkill still say "Watchtower Farms" but the one inside the lobby now says, "Welcome to Wallkill Bethel."

by Princess Daisy Boo ini am a bit of a yo yo dieter - i have been dieting ever since i was a teenager, and my role model for this was my mom of course.
in fact one of my very early memories of going shopping with mom and her buying a diet shake mix.
well... i have a little girl who is almost three and i have been thinking about things and i really need to break this cycle of crash diets, losing 5 kgs and picking up 10 once i have lost motivation.

My wife and I have been members of WW since 2003 (when I was diagnosed as diabetic) and at one point had lost a total of about 180 pounds (I was REALLY big when I joined). My wife had some health issues in 2005 and at that point because of stress etc. I gained back between 30 and 40 pounds which I haven't been able to shed since, but I'm still WAY better off than I was before.
Stick with it; the program works!

I am fed up with "Where else would I/We Go?"
by OnTheWayOut init is a standard answer that i get from the few jw's that i speak with.. "the organization has it's flaws, but where else would we go to be among.
people who strive to do [jehovah's/god's] will?".
"i don't understand all the doctrine, nor take it as seriously as you do, but .

What's confusing about it? They cite the statistics of their "Bible" and then as a separate statement, of their magazine. Two different items, two different sentences. It doesn't say the Bible is a magazine.
If you want the Bible in magazine form, check out:
