You don't need to buy another computer. For under $100 or so, you should be able to buy an external hard drive. I have two, one is 500 GB and the other is 2 terabytes (2000 GB). I use the 500 GB one to store my itunes library and the other one for backup purposes. If you implement this solution, you will have to designate the external drive in iTunes as your storage location, and then reload all your CDs.

Shunned by ex-jw's
by Joey Jo-Jo inthere seems to be a double standard among ex-jw's who believe and practice christianity.. i have lost 3 subscribers from my youtube channel all because of speaking my mind, it was not invasive or rude, but my last two videos appeared to have offended them.. so what happened?
as an atheist i raised some issues regarding the mind set of christianity that it borrows from jw's, in other words i was showing christian ex-jw's that they are behaving just like jw's.
the double standard is simple to grasp:.

The door swings the other way too. As a Christian, I've had some ex-JW atheists defriend me on Facebook because they didn't like something that I posted that differed from their beliefs. The key is being willing to dialogue or remain friends with others even though you disagree in your beliefs. Unfortuantely, that is utterly contrary to what we were taught as JWs, and far too many ex-JWs of every persuasion simply haven't gotten it yet.

Secondly whereas Luke was writing to and for Theophilus the GB/FDS are writing to and for the whole world of sheeplike ones. They are superior to Luke and can say that evidently Luke made a mistake and that he was not as careful with the facts as he says he was.
I'd be really grateful if you could point me to the statements in WTS literature that claim, as you have here asserted, that the teaching of the current GB is superior to inspired Scripture.
So how can the WTS take issue with Luke's facts? They evidently can because they have been appointed over all Jesus' earthly belongings and have more authority as channels of communication between Jehovah and the world than Luke who was only a 1st century writer, was not a member of the FDS and was writing for a smaller readership. So his written account is worthy of discrediting by the faithful and discreeet slave.
Do you have any evidence beyond their own claim that the GB of JWs has been appointed over all of Jesus' earthly belongings and now have more authority than the inspired Bible writers? If that is truly the case, why do JWs need the Bible at all?

Is speaking in tongues a felony or a misdemeanor in her area?

Good questions, except #2 and maybe #3, I think. With regard to question #2, logical order and chronological order are two different things. It would be perfectly logical, for example, to rank events in order of their importance, but that would not necessarily be chronological order. The fact that both words contain "logical" doesn't imply that they mean the same thing. I don't see any conflict between Luke's opening statement and the passage you cite from the Insight book.
As far as Rahab and Ruth, there is no implication in the Bible or in WTS literature that their presence "corrupted" the Messianic lineage. They were proselytes to the worship of YHWH, which carried a different status than that of the "alien resident." The proselyte was regarded as essentially having become a Jew; male proselytes would be circumcised, proselytes could engage in worship with the Israelites, even attending the Temple. Wikipedia (granted, not always the most scholarly source, but good as a quick reference) makes the following distinction:
There are two kinds of proselytes in Rabbinic Judaism:
- Ger tzedek (righteous proselytes, proselytes of righteousness, religious proselyte, devout proselyte)
- Ger toshav (resident proselyte, proselytes of the gate, limited proselyte, half-proselyte)
A righteous proselyte is a Gentile who has converted to Judaism, is bound to all the doctrines and precepts of the Jewish economy, and is considered a full member of the Jewish people. They are to be circumcised as adults (different from Brit milah) and immersed in a mikvah should they wish to eat of the Passover sacrifice.
A gate proselyte [5] is a "resident alien" who lives in the Land of Israel and follows some of the customs. They are not required to be circumcised nor to comply with the whole of the Torah. They are bound only to conform to the seven precepts of Noah, the Noahide Laws: do not worship idols, do not blaspheme God's name, do not murder, do not commit immoral sexual acts, do not steal, do not tear the limb from a living animal, and do not fail to establish courts of justice to be assured of a place in the world to come.
If Rahab and Ruth were of the first category, which I would assume was the case, it hardly seems that their presence in the Messianic line would be seen as a corrupting influence. In fact, it was not, because King David was also descended from these women, and no Jew would have questioned his credentials. Obviously, Rahab and Ruth were regarded as full members of the nation of Israel after their conversion.
That said, the other questions are excellent ones, and I'll be interested to see if any active JWs have a response to them.

New Light on the New Light!!
by The Searcher injust discovered that the 'new light' regarding the the identity of the 'slave' is not so new.
in the brochure "who are doing jehovah's will today?
", (brought out months before the annual meeting) it clearly states in the first paragraph in section 19 that "jesus would appoint the slave - during the time of the end!!

I don't think it's a doctrine they were ever completely consistent about. The prior understanding seems to have been that the "slave" was somehow appointed at Pentecost, and thus existed throughout Christian history, but also that in some sense the "slave" was appointed in 1919 - perhaps in the sense of the existing slave being appointed 'over all the Master's belongings' at that time? I'm not sure the sequence of events was ever spelled out clearly. I'm also not sure that they weren't actually contradicting themselves in various publications.

How Would You Answer
by turtleturtle ina brother once explained away 1975 by saying "jehovah changed his mind about the ninevites, didn't he?
did that mean he was a false prophet?
how would you answer that?.

So did mankind repent en masse and turn to God before 1975? That's why God spared the Ninevites. If so, why are JWs still out knocking on doors?

Looking Back, Did You Notice Many JWs Had Drinking, Drug or Mental Issues?
by minimus inas an elder, i saw many people that were affected by booze, drugs and mental health issues.
a lot of witnesses fought depression and turned to other things when they realized they couldn't keep up the pace and find inner happiness with what they did do..

The congregations I was in were like Prozac nation. Seems like the majority of the "happiest people on earth" were on the stuff, or some similar product. Including me, at the time. Funny, I haven't needed it since I left the organization.

amazon prime or netflix?
by Hortensia ini've had netflix for a long time, but it can be very disappointing.
i like streaming movies and tv shows, but netflix has a lot less to offer in the streaming department than in the dvds it mails.
amazon's prime is less expensive, and sometimes it has the stuff i want, but a lot of the time it doesn't either.. i suppose the different companies make different agreements with movie distributors.

I use Netflix streaming, but also kept the 2-at-a-time disc option. That way I can still get the new movies that aren't out on streaming yet. There is so much stuff to watch on streaming that I never lack something to watch, even when I have watched both discs.

New Rooming Arrangement for some district conventions in the UK - what are they up to?
by 88JM inso i missed this letter below being read out last week - i got a look at it from the notice board this week.. from what i heard, this announcement was not received entirely positively as such, but there were apparently one or two for who this is a bit annoying.. staying at hotels for the district convention is nothing new here - many are used to staying at the same hotel/b&b/campsite every year, and get quite friendly with the owners.
but this year, it looks like not only do we have a new location for our district assembly (glasgow - the s.e.c.c.?
) but we are being told what hotel to stay at, supposedly to make things cheaper.. what i can't understand is, if this is really for the benefit of people, why didn't they do this years ago?

It could result in difficulties if a large number of delegates choose not to use the hotels listed, hut for one reason or another, make their own arrangements.
Translation: If the hotels we have made kickback deals with begin to realize that they don't need to pay us off to get our people's business, we won't be able to shake them down for money anymore.
