Is it just me or has this site become a Believer/Atheist warzone?
by BU2B ini enjoy the odd thread about evoloution vs creation, etc but lately it seems that a large percentage of threads here devolve into fighting between atheists and theists and distract from what most of us here see eye to eye on, the wt and related things.
i wish things could be more civil here and fr people to realize that people will never see eye to eye on the topic.
it gets so tiring to see the contstant bickring and fighting on those threads.. they seem to go on page after page but very little of substance is discussed seeing as the existence or non existence of a god can be proven by anyone.

But I believe it is time for me to be a bit more circumspect about where I cast my 'pearls'.
I said the same thing when I decided to get married!

Sequencing of oldest human DNA throws up some unexpected results
by konceptual99 inheard this reported on the bbc radio 4 news just now.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/scientists-sequence-oldest-human-dna-from-fossilised-leg-bone-found-in-spain-8983416.html.
snippet of the report.... its dna sequence indicates that this early european was more closely related to a much earlier species of human living in siberia about 700,000 years ago than to the later neanderthals of europe who became extinct about 30,000 years ago.. the genetic link between early europeans and even earlier asians has surprised researchers who had expected to find a closer genetic relationship to the later neanderthals, who had occupied europe for tens of thousands of years before eventually dying out after anatomically-modern humans arrived.. .

You are allowed to have an opinion. Religious belief is someone else's opinion. Save it. Recite it at home, just not here.
Simon
Is this a new forum rule? If so, it would probably eliminate a lot of hostility from this board.
Personally, I'm an agnostic who isn't offended by religious discussion, although I do not care to take part in it, as I find as much validity in religion as I do in the Greek Myths (and the Greek Myths are far more interesting to me me!) I really don't understand why people get so pissed off when discussing these subjects. I enjoy reading the debates on these issues, but if they can't be discussed without emotion the debates quickly degrade into ugly shouting matches.

Why do so many think JW Religion is a Cult? (NO APOSTATES PLEASE)
by Brother Mike inmy question is, why do so many think the watchtower bible tract society is a cult?

"Brother Mike,"
I was born and raised in the JW cult, and never believed in it or considered baptism. Although I have forgiven them for their sins, I will always resent my parents' choice to raise me and my siblings in the WT cult.
Seeing you come to this site and refer to others as "apostates" makes me think that you are a brainwashed fool. Your cult has harmed many; feel free to try and defend the stupidity you are part of. You are not the first apologist to come to this site.

As far as the Watchtower goes, how should an adulteress be punished?
by I_love_Jeff inshould we use jesus' advice john 8:7 or god's advice .
leviticus 20:10?

A far more severe punishment than stoning an adulteress to death would be to compel her to have sex with each of the reptilian subhumans comprising the WTBTS' "governing body."

Living forever on a "paradise earth," inhabited solely by Jehovah's Witnesses and vegetarian animals, is my idea of hell on earth!

The punishment ought to be the scorn of her family and the community, and nothing more than that.

"I can understand your annoyance. But, don't be too quick to paint every woman there with the same brush."
I don't consider all JW women to be desperate, but I do consider them all to be weird.
As for your experience, that's pretty weird too. Did this clown think he was hot or something? Maybe it's the way his polyester pants clung to his butt cheeks; it made him feel sexy and he experienced the delusion that all women who want to speak to him at a hall want to marry him to gain access to the plethora of polyester that can be found in his wardrobe?

Please help re:objections to Thanksgiving?
by M.J. inwhat are the standard jw objections to thanksgiving?
do they claim there is any kind of a scriptural basis for condemning it?
i plan on asking someone about this and i'm curious what types of reasoning they might try to throw at me.

And what do the Witnesses replace Thanksgiving with? Let's see now, oh yeah, it's Thursday night, which is traditionally a meeting night. You shall not eat a meal with your family because it is more important to come to the hall and receive some programming.
What days do the Jehvoah's Witnesses celebrate life on? None. Their idea of a holiday celebration is the "Memorial," which consists of attending yet another meeting, and "observing" some cheap wine and stale crackers being passed around, like a lame tease.
Excuse my language, folks but writing this as a "born in" who was robbed of a normal childhood by this cult, I can't help but get a bit angry as I recall all the stupidity these idiots imposed upon my life.
Piss off, Governing Body subhumans! I hope your Thanksgiving Day brings you nothing but misery.
