My sister who is still in is going to Costa Rica as a missionary
by time2keepmoving ini left the organization in 2011 and never look back.
i left behind my sister and her two daughters by mid 2015 both her daughters (both are in their early twenties) were disfellowshipped and left the organization.
she has decided to go to costa rica as a missionary (i guess that's what they are still calling them, unless that has changed, been gone so long i don't know if they came up with a new term for it).

I served where the need was greater in rural Nebraska. People laughed and said "why would you want to go there", but we were doing exactly that, serving where we were needed...not going to a tropical country and drinking rum punch on our days off from service. -

Warwitch (warwick) Workers Needed!
by DwainBowman inbut no girls allowed!
as of january, women won't be accepted as volunteers, at any of the job sites!.
it has to do with the rooming arrangements.

Oh, I'm sure the girls will still come and move into the area to come "help" (look for a man). It's a shame because this is a very expensive county to live in (and Warwick is a super swanky part of the county). When they are working at bethel a few days a week it only lives a few days to work minimum wage jobs. Most of these women wouldn't be able to afford rent and living expenses of NY. I've seen these girls share very small spaces just to work at bethel.... -

Angelo Catanzaro
by Room 215 ini recently heard angelo catanzaro, a rather prominent figure in the organization .. a long-time district overseer and a favorite of knorr's, died recently.
there was some indication that he and his wife figured out ttatt in their latter years and turned "apostate"... .
does anyone out there know what happened to them?

He was my co when I was a kid, then when I was in pioneer school he was the instructor. I went to pioneer school in 2001, he was old then. But if I remember the story correctly, he was a co since the age of 17. He was pritty hard core so I would be surprised if he did know the tatt. -

So...I totally stopped going to meetings two years ago. Since then, I have gotten married and moved into my husband's home. His father and mother also live there. His father is a return visit of an older JW man, who I presume is an elder (he may even be at bethel, but I'm not sure). My father in law has no intentions of becoming a JW or studying with them. He just thinks the JW who visits him is a nice man that likes to chat, and apparently the JW has been coming over for years.
Anyway, there has been a few times when my father in law has not been home so I have answered the door for the JW. Once during the memorial invites I answered. The JW just smiled at me and asked for my FIL, when I told him that my FIL wasn't available the JW just handed me the invite and told me to give it to my FIL...no explanation on what it was, no personal invite for me. This past weekend, my FIL didn't feel like talking to the JW so I told him I would take care of the visit that day. I was all ready to have a nice "biblical discussion" with them but our conversation went something like this:
JW: is you FIL home?
Me: He’s not available right now
JW: Oh, I’ve stopped a few times recently and he hasn’t been home
Me: yeah he’s busy
JW: What’s your name?
Me: (I tell him)
JW: that’s a French name, do you speak French fluently?
Me: No (funny cause the last congregation I was in was the french, I really don’t want them coming to visit me)
JW: What do you do for work?
Me: I tell him and I tell him where I work
JW: That’s a bit of a commute
Me: It’s not bad
JW: I have these magazines, have you seen them before?
Me: yeah, I’ve seen them around
JW: Oh this ones about anxiety - - you’re wearing a running tee shirt do you like to run?
Me: yeah
JW: Oh some people like you run to relieve anxiety, give these mags to your FIL please.
That was it, no opening the bible, no leaving mags for me to read, no asking if I was interested. Do the JW’s just go around making social visits nowadays?

by lostinthought inhttp://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/story/news/local/2014/12/22/jehovahs-witnesses-buy-fishkill-rivercrest-apartments/20788311/.
jehovah's witnesses now owns a major apartment complex in the town of fishkill.. tenants say they've been told their leases will not be renewed.. the sale of the 250-unit rivercrest luxury apartments closed dec. 3, the deed on file at the dutchess county clerk's office shows.
while sale price is not stated, the transfer tax indicates a transaction for $57 million.. rivercrest is a modern development west of route 9d just north of beacon and was a project of avr realty, which also developed other housing and commercial spaces in that area as well as projects in eight states.. the sale deed is between rivercrest development llc, based in yonkers, and watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc. as the buyer.

Interesting, the web site for the complex says:
The community is 1 mile north of I-84, with easy access to the Taconic State Parkway, the NYS Thruway (I-87) and I-684. Metro-North railroad is minutes away, with stations at New Hamburg and Beacon. NYC is just over an hour away by train, and 65 miles by car. Stewart International Airport is 11 miles away.
Great at spot for a real estate investment!

Is this why the book is grey?
by Doug Mason inthe 2014 revised edition of "what does the bible really teach?
" uses the text of the 2013 nwt.
i therefore assume this is the reason for the grey colour of the "bible teach" book.. examples of the adjustments appear at pages 216 and 217 of the book:.

grey...It's probably cheaper to buy 1 color of book making materials instead of a whole bunch of different colors.

Jehovah's Witnesses now owns a major apartment complex in the Town of Fishkill.
Tenants say they've been told their leases will not be renewed.
The sale of the 250-unit Rivercrest Luxury Apartments closed Dec. 3, the deed on file at the Dutchess County Clerk's Office shows. While sale price is not stated, the transfer tax indicates a transaction for $57 million.
Rivercrest is a modern development west of Route 9D just north of Beacon and was a project of AVR Realty, which also developed other housing and commercial spaces in that area as well as projects in eight states.
The sale deed is between Rivercrest Development LLC, based in Yonkers, and Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc. as the buyer. Watchtower is bettter known as Jehovah's Witnesses.
The Jehovah's Witnesses headquarters did not have a comment to offer today, Monday, but said the inquiry would be referred to directors for consideration. Tom Perna, development manager for AVR Realty, was away, according to a person at his office. Staff at the rental office at Rivercrest declined to comment in detail but did confirm the complex had been sold and that they were not renewing leases.
Tenants believe the international religious organization plans to have their own people move into units that are emptying at Rivercrest.
Jehovah's Witnesses bought a vacant parcel in the Orange County Town of Warwick in 2009 and began construction of a new world headquarters in July 2013. Completion is targeted for 2017, according to the Witnesses' website.
Jeff Cohen, who has lived at the Rivercrest community for about seven years, said he is moving out to another rental complex.
"I'm getting out because they're not renewing anybody's leases," he said, citing information he learned from the rental staff. Leases expire at various times through the year. He said he was pleased that management let him out of his lease, which runs through June, because he expects that many residents will be flooding the rental realty market.
He said neighbors who have leases expiring this month have to work fast to find new homes. "I think it's pretty upsetting that at this time of year, families are told, we have to vacate the premises," he said.
Craig Wolf, Poughkeepsie Journal
Fishkill is 35 miles (50 minute drive) from Warwick, 25 Miles (35 minute drive) from Wallkill, and 20 miles (25 Minute drive) from Patterson. These apartments are somewhat central to all three complexes. What is Watchtower going to do with the apartments? My guess is that they will fix them up let some of the temporary volunteers who are working at Warwick live in them a little while, then eventually sell them for a profit.
