  I Need Some Serious Help Please !!!!!!

  first of all, i am not a jw and i never will be, for my own reasons that i need not discuss further.

  however, i have a brother who is a jw and there is a serious problem that he is struggling with, which pertains to his horrible marriage, abusive wife, divorce and being "kicked out" of jw as a member... or whatever jw's call it.

  he has been married to a woman for 22 years.

  I'm so sorry for has happened to you on both sites. The same thing happened to me years ago when I first came on-line on a disscussion board. They all thought that I was another 'creation' of someone who had decided to 'squat' at that board. It IS all very confusing to the 'newbies'.
  
  Another book that may be of some help to you is 'How to Rescue Your Loved one from the Watchtower" by David A. Reed. He also has a web site calledComments From The Friends.
  
  Hope this helps you. I always thought that you were for real.

  i started studying with them at age 17, got baptized at 18, and left at 24 or 25 for a lot of reasons.

  I suggest that you read both of Steve Hassan's books: "Combatting Cult Mind Control" and "Releasing the Bonds". Then give them to your brother along with Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz.
  
  The Jehovah's Witnesses/Watchtower Society is a CULT which enslaves their members by using Mind Control Tactics.
  
  Spend some time reading the other forums on this site to gain further insight into how abusive this cilt really is.

  I suggest that along with Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz, that you read both of Steve Hassan's books: "Combatting Cult Mind Control" and "Releasing the Bonds".
  
  Please be assured that ALL, and I do mean ALL, the guilt that you are feeling right now has been placed there by the Watchtower leaders as a "tactic to control the flock". This guilt is not real, it is a FALSE guilt. Without this 'guilt/fear/shame' trip that has been placed onto everyone's shoulders at the KH, very few would stay.
  
  Since you are already out, please, please do NOT go back again. Your child will thank you for this decision when he becomes an adult. The Watchtower is no place to raise kids. Check out SilentLambs.Org

  just told my jw dad( who only talks about witness stuff ) we will be finishing decorating our christmas tree tonight.

  he then started with the old so & so said blah blah blah about christmas being pagan.

  i cut him right off and said"i know what they say but for us it's about family".

  JW's are so inconsistant in their actions regarding Christmas. They go shopping in stores during December don't they? It doesn't matter what store it is, they ALL have Christmas decorations on display. This does not seem to deter them form going into these stores, does it??
  
  So why would YOUR Christmas decorations be any different to them?? After all Christmas is a time to 'celebrate' the FAMILY. A lot of JW's schedule a 'Family Day' for December or early January. So what would be so different at your house??
  
  I would invite them ALL to a 'Family Day' Dinner, gifts and all!
  If they choose not to come, that is THEiR loss.
  
  I have just found 2 books written by Ace Collins and published by Zondervan that explain the origins and stories behind the Christmas songs and traditions.
  
  "Stories Behind the Best-Loved Songs of Christmas" c/r 2001
  "Stories Behind the Great Traditions of Christmas" c/r 2003
  
  For Jw's and Ex's alike they would make for some very interesting reading.

  Is Islam a religion of Peace?

  the above link shows 164 verses in the koran that instructs the faithful to kill infidels.

  in light of this, how can some still spout the mantra that this is a religion of peace and that it's only the "radical fringe" that are causing problems?

  was discussing blood and he started in with the "if your doctor says don't drink alcohol and then you get it in an iv" argument and i said... "if you get a liver transplant are you a cannibal" and he started saying no of course not (his daughter before she died got a lung transplant) then he just got this dumbfounded look on his face and walked away!

  maybe his brain transplant suddenly kicked in!!

  Hi JT, I would start by getting rid of the JW NWT. It is a very inaccurate Bible translation that is tainted to 'fit' the JW doctrines. I recommend that you purchase a good Study Bible. I like the "NIV Study Bible" published by Zondervan. I have found that using A Bible Study Outline helps in my studies.
  
  As for what to teach the children - Use a Non-Watchtower published Bible story book. If your children are older, maybe invest in a nice Children's Bible with lots of pictures for them. They could also be taught to use the above Bible Study Outline.
