I'm so sorry for you. My last grandparent, my Grandma, died when she was 94 and I was in my 40's. It was not any easier because of her age! I still miss her today, many yrs later.

NO ONE CAN COME TO THE FUNERAL!!!!
by chuckyy injust an update on my previous thread.as you know, my mother in law who is a jw, asked me to conduct the funeral for my father in law.i am disassociated.
apparently, the elders wrote to the society and had a meeting today.
the outcome is that noone is allowed to come to the funeral, not even close friends of my mother in law from the hall.

chuckyy,
I just read your recent threads on this board. Please accept my condolences for your FIL's recent death.
It appears to me that the reason that the Society is forbidding all JW's from attending the funeral is because your MIL refused to take "the loving instruction" (tm) of that elder to shun her DA'd daughter and family - and yes this does include her own grandchildren. According to their viewpoint, she is being "disobedient" to "Jehovah's . . um 'loving' . . . Organization" and needs to be disciplined for HER actions. In their sick way of reasoning - how much better to show 'their love and concern' for your MIL by NOT attending the funeral of her non-JW husband. The elders think that by metting out this sort of 'discipline' they will be able to achive their goal and get her to obey their instruction to shun her daughter.
It is all about MIND-CONTOL! But in reality, this may just be what your MIL needs to join you in leaving that FREAKING MIND CONTROL KULT!!!

Lee,
I have a very old 'puter and can't run video clips. Is the story in print somewhere on the net? Maybe even a transcript of the video-clip would help.
Thanks,

"If she keeps up her "prove it to me" attitude, it will eventually be her undoing."
I could not have said it better myself.
My own observations on Holly's posts:
She claims to have been part of the 'born-again' churches for 17 years, yet I find many things missing when she refers to her experiences with this group. 'Born-againers' use many catch phrases that belong to that group only. (Much as dubs do - 'in service' is an example.) I found this 'in jargarn' missing from Holly's posts. Instead her posts sounded way too much like she was ALREADY a dub! I just wonder what type of churches she had attended in the past. It would be really nice to know. I guess that we on JWD may never really know for sure exactly why she came here.
