I am PROUD to say that the WT has never had me or any of my family. I became interested in fighting this brainwashing cult as a youth of 13 when I had a classmate that belonged to the Cult. My father was also in 'counter-cult' ministry, so from an even earlier age I was aware that the WT DID NOT have 'the truth' as they claim to have.
I agree that if "MR/MRS/MS General Public" can be made aware of how destrucive this cult really is, THAT is one way to ensure that the printing presses at the WT go silent.
Leagal Action will also drain the coffers DRY!
Money is power, and if their finances run dry, they will be left powerless!!

Can the beast be slain? Should it be?
by AuldSoul inon another thread i was responding to sentient and realized that what i was writing is what i truly feel so many who come out don't look at from a practical standpoint.
the individuals in the organization are not typically the biggest problem, it is the organization itself.
they call it an "organization" to hide its true face; it is a corporation.

WTS vs Quotes: Requiem for a Research Web Site
by Quotes inin compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".
the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

Hats off to you, Quotes!!!
YOU HAVE WON, BIGTIME!!
What the WBTS has done to you, Quotes, will come back to bite them a million times over, when "The Mighty Apostates" that the Watchtower fears so much continues to expose the LIES that have been printed by their OWN printing presses throughtout their history!
"The Mighty Apostates" will unite, and in so doing, will cause those same printing presses to 'go dark' just as the WBTS has ordered your web site to turn its lights out.
What they have done is to throw but a teeny-tiny grain of sand at a VERY large nest of hornets! The hornets are now MAD and will sting the WBTS until it withers and falls to the ground.
"Mighty Apostates", Let the lawsuits against the WBTS begin!!

Jdarley,
Thanks for answering my question. Since you are still a minor, what does the Bible say about your relationship with your parents?

JWs and paganism
by Super_Becka inok guys, i've been contemplating the world of the jws - which isn't an especially good idea because the more you think about it, the less sense it makes - and the whole "we don't do anything pagan" thing is really getting to me, just because it's so hypocritical.. so what i'm looking for is this - a list of any and all pagan practices that are just fine, according to wts rules and regulations.
anything big or small that's not banned by the wts but clearly has pagan origins.. and to make myself clear, i'm not looking to argue, i'm not looking to irritate any of the jws we have lurking around here (sweetscholar comes to mind), i'm just looking for a list, plain and simple.. let me start:.

Need advice and support :(
by glitter inmy mum has been inactive for the best part of a decade.
the other week, the daughter of the woman my mum studied with to become a jw popped over to see mum (they are good friends).
the daughter was saying how she probably won't get baptised herself as there is too much she doesn't agree with, but that she thinks jws are right.

glitter,
Sorry for the emotional pain that both you and your mum are going through right now. But there must have been doubts long before this as she had choosen to be inactive for 10 years. Do not blame yourself. Just let her 'cool off' for awhile. She will get over her shock in time and that is when she will turn to you for support.

I don't understand why it is that you wanted this verse as a 'proof text', because JW's accept that Jesus was the SON of God, but reject the belief that Jesus IS God.

If you want to see what versions have it and those who don't you can use Bible Gateway:
