Apostates, Hatred for the Org, leaving JWD

yesterday i watched a thread grow so fast it was insane.

that thread wasn?t about how bad the society was, it wasn?t about sex or drugs, it was what we thought could have been someone committing suicide, saying they had enough?life sucks and then....

then today i read a second posting of someone who has done an exhaustive study on the postings found within jwd (actually only the tame ones that are from people leaning more pro org than against) and determined what a hate filled sack of pus this place is.

For more than three have been a daily observer of this site and an occasional contributor. While I am aware that occasionally there are personal issues between posters, I just don't get involved. And thus, am not affected.

What I do pay attention to is the genuine understanding and thoughtfulness of contributors. There is nothing like reading a post and have it trigger an emotion that may have been repressed for years.

While the society would like to think that this site is full of hate, the reality is that they have to be scared to death. ~~If and~~ when the society crumbles, this site will be the reason why.

Bethel wants lawyers!

at this week's service meeting it a letter was read to all congregations in usa:

bethel wants lawyers, lawyers specializing in tax law, and cpa's.

if you are in any of these professions you were supposed to talk to the po that evening.

I'm so excited. Finially a dream come true. While I am a CPA, I have not been to a meeting in over a year. Based upon the above quote, I still qualify. Did they say where to send the application?

I would actually start going back to the meetings if I could audit the society's books. It would be worth it.

Wanting to leave JWs & Spouse problems

are you trying to fade or otherwise distance yourself from the org, but have a spouse that is a loyal jw?

on various posts i read about some that are staying in the org, or having a difficult time because their spouse doesn't understand the change.

i'll begin...my wife doesn't understand how i can turn my back on all the good things i've gotten from the org.

My story is similar to 95Storm. In over 10 years I have not yet been able to convince my wife that my leaving the organization is anything other than a rebelion against god. After years of just taking it, several months ago I had enough. She had invited an elder to come over to talk to me and because I was trying to be the "nice guy" I talked to him. After several hours I was ready to have a nervous breakdown. In the strongest language possible I told my wife that I will never go to another meeting, and if she does not want to see me in a mental institution she will never speak my name to an elder again. I have had f******g enough!

So, we are at a very uncomfortable truce. But at least I don't get the guilt trip for not joining her in her worship. And, no one has come to "encourage" me.

I know this is not the happy ending you are probably hoping for. At least we don't argue about religion any more but have found many other things to argue about....

it's not as bad as ipalfatn i & ii, but still its based on the idea of 607 and 1914.. how have any of you ex or current book study overseers handled this problem.

i'd like not to conduct but thats not really an option.

That is a nice thought, unfortunately has no relationship to reality, at least in my case. I could never get beyond the god=watchtower mentality in over 10 years of discussions. since then I have given up on both the argument and god.

probably been discussed before but, we were just checking the monthly reports in this years km's and started looking back over the last few years to then getting out 1994/5 km's to find that basically in our country the number of publishers is about the same each year.

a couple of peaks and troughs, but basically the same.

"by their fruits you will recognize them" what about the lack of fruit?

This thread is bringing back some very unconfortable memories. I remember giving talks and going on "autopilot" when talking about the paradise. All the while thinking to myself WTF. How the hell do I get out of here without losing my family and my sanity.

That was 10 years ago, have not been to a meeting in about a year. Still have my family - I am on a very uncomfortable truce with my wife. My sanity is still questionable.

An important point that SOJ failed to include is what part of the country he is in. If he is in, for example, a sunbelt area the growth is there but it is coming from fellow witnesses moving in to the area instead of coming from interest in the territory. That is not growth, just a redistribution. Which is why you need to look at overall statistics instead of regional. Bottom line, the growing days are over.

How long since you been out in service?

it must be about 13 years since i went out in service.

about 15 years since i went out a couple times a month, and about 18 years since i went at least once a week.. i just can't imagine going from door to door anymore.

but to think that we all did it for quite awhile.

The last time I was out in service was the Saturday morning when Princess Diana's funeral occurred. It proved to be a great "topic for conversation." I believe she died in 1997. I will let you do the calculation.

I would like to suggest a slight change to your first question:

What is the meaning of life?

I have no idea what the meaning of life is and I think looking for a greater meaning is a fruitless journey. However, I do believe that each individual should ask:

What is the meaning of MY life?

We all should live for our individual purpose. Is that selfish? Yes - of course and that is not a bad thing.

Since separating myself from the borg I have been on that quest of finding meaning for MY life. And I am enjoying every minute of it. thank you very much.
