Getting an advanced degree changed my life. I cannot speak for everyone, but for me it was the best thing ever.
I never bought into the society's line on education. This was one crack in my thought process that eventually opened me to TTATT.

use this the next time a jw tells you there is little advantage to going to college..

as i grew up in the religion, i was a 10. i wanted to be made a "servant" because that was instilled in me from infancy.
i diligently studied ever piece of watchtower literature and defended my religion intensely.. when i got into my 30's, i started to see little cracks in the watchtower's surface but decided to "wait on jehovah".
then i started to research a little more critically and realized i couldn't defend the prophecies, the treatment of people and the hypocrisy that was becoming more obvious, that especially an elder can see.. it was a gradual thing---from a 10 to a zero!.
I swallowed it all, hook, line, and sinker. Sad but true.
trying to fade... using the mentally depressed, bi-polar, etc.... was eating out with husband.
nice evening chatting and relaxing.
ready to head home and chill for the night.
Was it a meeting night?
thete are a lot of derocatory comments sbout witnesses and cleaning windows.
as a former window cleaner i can say:-.
a. i started my self employment at 17.. b. i built the round with my own initiative.. c. i was soon making 4 times the average hourly wage.. d. i was afraid of heights, but as the round grew i employed 2 people.. e. it exspanded to gardening painting and decorating ect, ect,.
New Hope, it sounds like you have the required sales skills and the willingness to work hard. Good luck to you.
BTW, how is the real estate market where you are? Are we climbing out of the crisis state?

NH&H, you said you started your own estate agency. What is that, do you mean real estate agency?
i was raised a jw and i am still one but recently i have been having trouble believing in a god.
this is not meant to offend anyone who does, i am just curious to see if i am the only one who thinks this..... to start, i am a very black and white person.
if 1+1=2 it makes sense to me and i can agree with it.
You have a lot of stuff going on. I suggest you don't worry about the question of god for a while. Come back to it in a year or so and see if the question is even relevant. You may find that you can find happiness without answering the "god" question.
to answer my question, no i do not pray over meals anymore exept for when i am with other jws i do a 15 second head bow for appearances sake.
i just came to the realization god had nothing to do with whether i ate or not.
many believers are starving right now whilst many non-believers are eating like kings.. also why should god give me food while he lets little children in dprk concentration camps starve to death.
I have not prayed in over 10 years. What I learned is that I am not missed. If you happen to speak to god, ask him (or her) if he misses me? I think I know the answer.
I love to eat, and even without a prayer, the food tastes pretty good.

Congratulations on having a successful business. You clearly have identified the busines aspect of your vocation. I have seen many start businesses and then fail, not because they were not creating value, but because they did not understand how to run a business.
was getting some food when a u2 song came on.
i'm not a huge fan but i like some of their songs.
i noticed that the lyrics of their songs exude more emotion and spirituality that bland kingdom melodies.
I agree that there is a spiritual message with U2. I love the band.
But let's be real. It does not take much to surpass the watchtower threashold of spirituality. I remember studying for the CPA exam and found that experience more spiritually uplifting than a watchtower study.
* a jw family leave their crops and livestock unattained to go to a convention.
when they return, the crops and livestock are doing just fine.. * a desperate person is anxiously praying to god to give her a chance to know him.
even before the prayer is concluded, two jws knock at her door.. * a pioneer prefers to take leave from her work in order to attend the pioneer school, even though she's sure she'll be fired.
Not only are they selective they are also made up. Some of these stories I have heard for many years. To actually find out if these events took place is an impossible task.
