i have recently been given the privilege of taking the field service group.. .
can anyone give me some scriptures i can use to encourage the group?
can you also give a reason as to why these scriptures are helpful to our ministry.. .
My my my, what a privilege. Certainly the holy spirit is blessing your congregation.
Nobody wants no stinkin scriptures - they want to know is it Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts for the break at 10:30.
I was in charge of mid week for several years, the key is short and sweet. Don't rock the boat and arrange groups beyond the socially accepted pre-established groups. And remember the break, never - neverforget the break.
how much would a well-off witness be expected to donate?
my wife has just withdrawn a few hundred pounds from her account and refuses to tell me why so i suspect she plans to donate it as she hasn't donated for a while because she knows i don't want our money going to the organisation.
is it likely that she is feeling under pressure to make a large donation?.
It is usually not the ones most well off that do the bulk of the contributions. I was account servant for 10+ years and knew who contributed and who did not. The bulk of the contributions came from 2 or 3 families. Everyone else contributed little to nothing.
Count me as someon who contributed very little. I would write a $10 check once or so every few years because the guilt was too much. It takes a lot of guilt to separate me from my money.

Yes. Once he found out we knew each other and I knew his family he cut off the conversation. He evidently was not prepared to come public. Not that I would tell anyone. In any event, I wish him well.

it's been a few years since the organization ended the book study arrangement in private homes.. gone was the last opportunity to have tea and biscuits and a natter with the friends afterwards.. do you think people regret losing the book study?
for some, it may have been the only time they were able to get some "associaton".

friend from north carolina, he told me yesterday that they just got a letter that all traveling overseers (do's & co's) age 70 & up are going to be laid off on 09/01/2014.
they will be asssigned to local congregations and further details are pending.. .
I am surprised they have those ollder than 70 in the C.O. and D.O. work. That is a hard life.
But they have few options. They have not contributed into social security and get the minimum. Certainly not enought to live on. Will they be able to keep their leased Buicks?
the recent letter being us to come to detroit shows that jws are beginning not to take the gb seriously anymore.
the buzz following the meeting was that the letter was unprecedented in its tone.
this coming from long time jws of 30 years plus.

I expressed the dilemma to someone essentially in terms of true believers, basically good people, who did everything right, followed the rules and now they see the reality of the lie. Their question is - "so what do we do now?"
The really sad part is that for many people, options are very limited. I have no advice and I don't think anyone can come up with an answer.
I am glad I made the decisions I did 10 years ago, because I really don't think I could do it now. That is really scarey.
