Anyone Here Used to Fear Persecution?
by kneehighmiah ini was thinking today about how i no longer have to fear the attack of satan against the jws.
i used to fear being rounded up and beaten by mobs.
seeing my family tortured.

I grew up in the 1960s and the primary focus of every meeting was discussing how the tribulation was going to be worse than what happened to the witnesses in concentration camps. They loved to go over every detail of rape, starvation, beatings and etc. I remember my mother reading a watchtower article how that the brother did not feel the punches or whips - it was jehovah's way of protecting the faithful brother. It really scared me to think that I would not have enough faith for jehovah to protect me from the beatings and I would feel the punches. I wanted to be faithful, but did not want to die. Because as we all know, if you die you will not be able to get married in the resurrection.
So, yes, I was a little boy that was fuc*ing scared about my fate. Pardon the language, but you bring up a piece of my life that as I reflect as an adult I get very angry. As far as I a concerned, this was child abuse.

It is just another proof that they love numbers and believe that higher numbers in anything proves jehovah's favor.

Did you count the time for your "hour talk"?
by compound complex inhi fellow speakers (sorry, brothers only!):.
my first public talk, given in my early 20s, was actually a twenty-minute part of a symposium talk.
my pioneer partner friend and i each had twenty minutes and a "servant" had the concluding part.

Absolutely. It was always my understanding that you should count time. Even though the talk was 45 minutes I always counted at least an hour. However, keep in mind that towards the end, my reporting time had nothing to do with my actual activity (if you know what I mean).

Evidence of Jesus being Married?
by cantleave inhttp://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/jesus-wife-fragment-is-not-a-fake-scientists-claim-9253395.html.
a harvard professor is claiming a fragment of papyrus seemingly mentioning that jesus had a wife is an ancient document and not a forgery, following a series of tests.. the text is written in coptic and contains a dialogue in which jesus refers to "my wife.
"karen king, a professor at the harvard divinity school, writes in the harvard theological review that the papyrus is almost certainly a product of ancient christians and probably dates to eighth-century egypt, based on carbon dating and chemical tests on the ink.. none of the testing has produced any evidence that the fragment is a modern fabrication or forgery, prof king and her team concluded.. the fragment, which has some legible lines on the front and on the back, contains the words: jesus said to them, my wife .... she will also be my disciple.. james yardley from columbia university, and alexis hagadorn from columbia university libraries, used a technique called micro-raman spectroscopy to determine that the carbon character of the ink matched samples of other papyri that date from the first to eighth centuries ce.. malcolm choat from macquarie university examined the fragment at hds and offered an independent assessment of the handwriting.. prof king first announced the existence of the fragment in september 2012, at the international coptic congress in rome, where she dubbed it "the gospel of jesus's wife.".

If Jesus really was the son of god and really did want to understand the human experience then he had to have sex, and probably pretty good sex. The question of whether or not he was married is secondary. So if he had sex then the logical conclusion is that he had children. To steal a line from the Watchtower, "it is reasonable to conclude...."

Reverse Witnessing - Will NEVER work!
by MissConfused inits been a while since i spoke up.
after a lot of 'tactful' questioning, i have come under the conclusion that witnessing ttatt with dubs will never work.
there is nothing called reasoning with them.
-

Blondie said "It worked with me."
An interesting theory that I have (at least I think it is interesting) is that only intelligent independent thinking people are receptive to the inquisitive questioning.
Thus the reason why reverse witnessing does not work is because most of the intelligent independent thinkers are long gone. You will never get a brain dead person to think with questions. Which is why I would never think about trying.

Deuteronomy 22:28,29. Thank Jebus nobody pays attention to this f*cked up part of "God's inspired word" any more.
by DuvanMuvan in28 if a man happens to meet a virgin girl who is not engaged and he seizes her and lies down with her and they are discovered,+29 the man who lay down with her must give the girls father 50 silver shekels, and she will become his wife.+ because he humiliated her, he will not be allowed to divorce her as long as he lives.

Women as property... Ah, the good old days.
(Just kidding - I find this disgusting and a reflection of the real purpose of the bible, which is to oppress women.)
