I did not write a letter. In the process of leaving I moved a few times; so I am not sure what my status is, nor do I care. I may still be an elder in one of the congregations. The last congregation I attended really has no idea who I am.

I have no desire to wrap things up with my Watchtower life. Not that I am thinking of going back but becuase closing the books only serves the purposes of the Watchtower, not me. I have moved on and really care about leaving a farewell message.

If anyone is intersted they can review the body of the comments I have made here over the past 13 years.

And by the way, it is my birthday - so Happy birthday to me!!

If I was in control of a multibillion $ organization and woke up. Would I try to change it? Not the religions side, what would be the point. Changing the belief system is somewhat irrelevant... It doesn't matter - what matters is $$$$$

What I would do would be to secure assets and my position. If I needed to change to secure assets I would make the necessary changes. I would do the exact things we see happening now.

- Do away with as much printing as possible - too expensive.

- Create a legal barrier between the corporation and the idiot elders that get everyone in trouble.

- Force congregations to turn over property (Kingdom halls and assembly halls) to the corporation.

- Encourage volunteerism to reduce the cost of the corporation's realestate empire.

I suspect that the people in charge (really in charge) already know the religion is crap. They are doing what they need to do to secure assets, reduce risk, and find revenue streams for continued growth.

Another night, another JW dream

such a ripoff when you dream you're back at the damn meetings.

i once dreamed a local (rather liberal-minded) elder, jack hoogendoorn, was smoking a cigar while he was giving a talk on the platform.. last night i was back there again: one elder who suddenly decided he was going to be "encouraging" gave me the latest stats on baptisms, while someone else i was meant to go witnessing with was not-so-subtly probing me about how many magazines i'd been placing lately.

i chose not to tell them i had decided against placing mags any more.

It is quite common to have dreams about going to the meeting and out in service. If I am in service I am trying to figure out how to get away. I can remember dreams where I have given talks, been asked to say a prayer. I have had long conversations in my dreams with people I remember. It is surprising how much usless knowledge is stored in the recesses of my brain and only comes out when I dream.

What happens to marriages upon the arrival of Armageddon?

a couple of paradise earth questions: .

1) if you are a married, baptized witness couple (both people being baptized) and armageddon arrives, will the couple still be married on paradise earthtm?

2) if you are married to an unbelieving mate (ubm) and armageddon arrives, will the witness be free to remarry on paradise earth?.

I have heard so much speculation around this issue. Much of the speculation relates to the wishes and hopes of the individuals.

In the end all of it is nothing.

If these are all photoshopped, then is all I got to say - I don't know whether to scream or eat a bananna. Perhaps table witnessing are just too irresitable for the creative minds to pass up.

In any event it is funny.

divorce rate-education level

in the paper a while ago, there was a study done on divorce rate compaired to education level.

basicly they found higher education went with lower divorces, while lower education went with higher diverces.. and guess where jw fall into?.

also, more lasting harm caused by the jw's lack of education besides lost jobs, even if one does leave..

I did a quick literature review search. The relationship between divorces and education may be related to age. Those with a higher the education generally marry later in life as compared to a person with limited education.

Witnesses tend to marry very young (I was 19 years old in my failed marriage). And of course we know the reason. The sexual drive is very strong and the context of the religion is that sex outside of marriage is very bad. So, if you want to have sex you gotta get married.

I suspect that divorces among witnesses is pretty high. The dilemma is that a divorce is generally associated with a disfellowshipping. And if you are disfellowshipped, you are no longer part of the congregation, so your numbers don't count.

today i attended the special assembly day (sad lol).

i overheard a conversation between an elder and another elder.

we'll call this guy a super elder because he's on all sorts of committees in the area.

I have taught accounting a university for several years and always try to explain to my students that a marriage is a financial and economic bond. If you end up with a spend thrift that person can destroy your future. However, if you marry someone who has the same financial goals you have there is no end to the potential of your success.
