The Great Tribulation "You MIssed it"
by seekchristonly inthe great tribulation wa snotfor osem future end tiemevent but a prophecy about the destruction of jeruslame and the temple in the 1st century.
jesus plainly told those who were standing in fornt of him that some of them would still be alive when he returned in his kingdom and they were and he did return for them as promised.
there isno dual fulfillment or types and shadows anymore they were done away with.

Atlanta Int Convention 2014:The Big Party. Does this look like WT believes Armageddon is coming "soon"?
by AndDontCallMeShirley inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=potrr2qxhue.
.. if armageddon is "imminent", why is wt focused on sight-seeing, entertainment, travel, etc.

You make a good point, Desirious. This thread brought down a non-approved pro-jw video. How did they know it was talked about? Because this site is monitored "ever so closely."
This was not an insignificant event.
Way to go ADCMS! Keep in mind they are watching... You are no longer under the radar.

A Thread for Cyclists - Where Do you Ride?
by cofty ini took up cycing a couple of months ago just to get fitter and lose a bit of excess weight.. i bought a second-hand hybrid bike (weighs only slightly less than a truck) and fitted road tyres.
four or five times a week i will go for a ride after work for an hour or so.
i am fortunate enough to live in rural north england surrounded by limitless quiet roads.

They have instituted a citi bike system in Manhattan. Evidently this is similar to other cities. I have heard great things about this and am thinking that this is for me. I am very intimidated about riding a bike in the Manhattan traffic. Does anyone have experience with this?

Lightning is very common in Florida. I remember being out in service and saw lightning strike within a few feet of me. If you have ever experienced that it is fu*&*ng scary. I went back to the car and called service day over. I was not going to be a causality for the good news.

Question for believers in the Bible/God
by not bitter inmy question basically is - why believe?.
now as a non believer i find it hard to understand how anyone in their right mind can believe in the supernatural and more to the point, live their lives according to an old book.
not just christians obviously.. my intention is not to offend people.

I really tried to believe, and in some ways I am jealous of believers. But in the end I just don't get it. I refuse to waste any more of my life expecting something beyond this life. I gave my first 35 years doing that and I just won't do it any more.

CO Visits
by Frazzled UBM inmore questions from an uninformed ubm: do co visits all happen at the same time each year?
is now co visit season?
what does this mean in terms of harrassing inactive memebers to come to meetings?

DaF stated "CO visit is like a motivational speaker seminar"
I am not sure I ever experienced a CO visit as a motivational speaker seminar. I think it is more like an IRS audit or tooth canal. A tooth canal is probably overstating. But it is definitely an audit. He fills out a report about the congregation that is sent back to HQ. If that is not an audit, I am not sure what is.
In any event, the week wreaks of coercive power over the flock.
Which probably explains why your wife is so on edge around the CO visit week.

A Good Question To Ask JW to Get Them To Think
by sarahsmile inwhy did you get baptized?.
what do you think they would reply?.
because it is the truth!

BTW, I was 15 when I was baptized into this realestate development corporation, I am now 57.
I remember thinking that the whole baptism process was pretty dumb. I really could never get to the point of saying a prayer that dedicated my life to "j."
In retrospect, this should have been a clue that this was not for me, but I was not that enlightened to the world.

I am not convinced that it is my role to try to convice jws that their way is in error. If I prove that they are wrong, then what?
You may consider my perspective selfish; you are correct, it is. I don't want the responsibility of the rest of their live.
Proving that the jw religion is wrong not difficult, but it is only the first step in a very long, hard, and complex process. I am still trying to sort out my life, I don't want the responsibility of another's live.
I got my own stkinin problem - I really don't want someone else's problems.
So if they think they have the truth - god bless them...

What is spirit, exactly?
by Viviane ini've always wondered that.
recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.
cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?

Wow Viv, what a great question and great responses. I am not sure what it means that you have reached page 28 on posts, but I'll bet you had no idea you question would hit such a nerve.
In any event, As far as I am concerned the spirit is what we take from previous generations and hopefully move forward.
As an example, I hope that what I do now is aligned with what my mother considered important. I also hope that she fulfilled, at least in part, the goals from prior generations. And the spirit of the family continues. I hope that my children and their children can finish what I will be unable to complete.
If that happens then my life created value.
I have spent a great deal of time, recently, visualizing the life of my grandparents. I am not sure how this fits in to your questions, but I suspect that it has a lot to do with the general theme of what I consider to be my spirit.
