now when i say donation, i mean every dollar a person gives, this would include contribution boxes in the hall, assemblies, etc, donations for magazines, books, videos etc, every possible thing one would donate money to the watchtower for.. if $1000 a person is a fair number, then multiply it by 6,000,000.
= $ 6 billion dollars a year, nice scam watchtower.
what about the story a few months ago about the poor african boy who left his, whole estate of 2 chicken to the wt.
That is true, However, the society knows that the multibillion $ corporation does not run on a few chickens. The only value those stories have is to inflict enough guilt in hopes that a major contributor will send in a check.

I was the account servant for ten years. I could generally expect two or three families donating on a regular basis; but no more than $100 per month. The rest of the congregation donated very little. No major contributors in our congregation. I remember one experience when the first CD library came out. The order came in and the lit servant passed out probably 15 copies.. Some people did not even have a computer but requested a copy. When it was time to count the money there were two pennies in the contribution box.
The society probably understands that their contributions depends not on the masses but on a very few within each congregation.
the saddest and sorriest aspect of life is this: no do-overs.
we are stuck with what choices we make.

In 1976 I married young and moved with my wife half way accross the country. My mother would write almost every week with everday information along with a usual dose of advice. Unfortunatally I usually only skimmed through the letters and they ended in the trash after a few days or weeks. Ten years later in the mid 80s my mother died from injuries resulting from an automobile accident.
Even now almost 20 years after her death it makes me very sad that I did not save any of those letters. So my do-over would be to save those letters and have a priceless window to the past.

That is one of the weirdest things I have ever seen.
I wonder how much this kid would go out in service if he did not have to report time. Recently I had my annual conversations with a WT corporate compliance office (i.e. Elder). I asked him what would happen if the r&f were not required to turn in time. His replied honestly by saying: "the amount of service time would drastically go down."
i know an argument can be made that any reason is unjustifiable but i'm thinking more of the dumbest reasons.
for example, if 2 "witnesses" saw you buy a lottery ticket, you could be df'd for "greediness"......any others??

The wife of an older brother died, and because of the trauma the old brother attempted suicide. He was disfellowshipped for not having a "respect for life."

in the wt article 15 december 2003 the wt tried to set a new date for the end, by connecting the sign of the end given by jesus when he used the exampe of noah.
noah preached for 120 years and then the end came.
so simillar it will be during the last days when they started in 1914 with jesus taking the throne in heaven.
I sat through that particular WT study in a congregation conducted by a Bethel "heavy" and there were at least two GB in attendance. There was no particular emphesis of 2034 from the conductor or anyone in the congregation. So, unless there has bee new light, the CO may be on his own.

the typical jehovah's witness no longer is the strong, spiritual giant.
lately, i hear more and more "very inactive" jws that haven't gone to a congregation meeting in years, still consider themselves good jws.
they are like "home baptists".
When I read the topic I thought you were talking about where new recruits come from. It was my observation that the "witness" work was geared to find those who were complete failures at life and were looking for easy answers. Is not that why we kept calling back, perhaps someone who was not interested would have a 'life crisis' and see the 'truth' as their only last hope.
As in. 'yea, my life stinks but only a few short years....paradise.' The individual no longer need to find a solution for his or her life, only wait out this wicked system.
Unfortunately, as we all know, the end does not come and individuals eventually have to (or will have to) face reality,

To divert any question start your answer with "It is a very long story and not very interesting, but if you are interested in my story......" Say this very slow like with long pauses.... you will have never have anyone take the bate.
I have used this for 10 years and only one person wanted me to continue the conversation. In the end I think he was sorry.
If at all possible move from your congregation. Stay there for a year or so and move again. By the second move you will be forgotten.
