I counted time until I took my tie off.
That is the same criteria I used. As long as I had a tie on, I was out in service.
well, i have confirmed rumors that have gone around about there being no annual service report for the january 1st, 2005 issue.. .
it seems, for reasons unknown, that the watchtower has ended another decades long tradition.
in the second study article for the january 1st, 2005 watchtower, entitled, "trained to give a thorough witness," paragraph 24 reads: .
I counted time until I took my tie off.
That is the same criteria I used. As long as I had a tie on, I was out in service.
i'm not sure if this subject has been touched before but i noticed that since the turn of the millennium, the watchtower has paid less attention to "1914".
that is to say, when checking the frequency of the term '1914' in the watchtower from 1970-2003 through the wt-library 2003, there is a notable decrease after 1999. see the attached graph.
would that be a significant development or just statistical coincidence?
This is very interesting. It would be nice if you could post the actual number of occurances as opposed to a chart. I like numbers. Also just to clarify, am I correct in saying that you looked at the number of individual occurances of the number "1914" and that you only looked at the watchtower magazine?
Thanks in advance for your clarification.
i got a call the other day from a friend of mine who's a devout christian, and he told me that even though he thought highly of me, he asked how could i (a reference to the marriage to my husband) bring so much anger and pain in god's heart.... it was a pointed question, and at any other time i wouldn't of answered his question in a way that would of resulted in a theological lesson.
but i responded almost immediately: .
"we must do a pretty good job bringing god so much unhappiness, anger, and upset.
When did I make god happy? When I quit bothering him with those silly jw prayers.
How do I know he is happy? by the very fact that he has been silent, I am sure he is happy. He does not bother me and I don't bother him...seems to work for both of us.
.....at my former sociology-professor's night class, pertaining to cults!!!
i am so honored.
i took 4 soc classes under this most radical and unique (left-wing of course!
Don't forget, you can "count time" for the time you are speaking
i can honestly say that there aren't many that i truly hate.
however, there is a small list.
it used to contain only two people, but a third is making it's way on that list.
Three emotions that I stay away from are hate, jealousy, and guilt. I had too much of these during my life as a witness. However, I am not above detesting a few people. That is ok, isn't it?
.
people such as prostutites, tramps, drug addicts.. if not,why not?
While the wt does not actively persue the groups you talk about, you can make a case that they actively recruit those from the economic fringe of society.
taken from the nov. 2004 aarp bulletin:.
"if you've added your phone numbers to the federal government's do not call registry in the.
past year, chances are you've experienced a blissful treat: the chance for dinnertime .
I believe they have replace the "written review"ith an "oral" review. Part of the "dumbing down" strategy.
the theme text for jehovah's witnesses this year is, "keep on the watch...prove yourselves ready.
" (matthew 24:42, 44) .
and what a year it has been for the watchtower bible & tract society.
From the outside looking in it is clear the society has an agenda. However, from the inside the faithful only see this as "food at the proper time."
recently, i had to help my mom move from ny...she has just retired and has been a witness for over 30 years.
i wouldn't call her devout in that she never misses field service or that she would walk through horrible weather to get to a meeting but she is devout in a sense that she will believe whatever the wts puts before her.... anyway, my two older brothers who are also "in the truth" were helping go through what stuff we were going to move when we came to her literature stash.
my mom is an extreme packrat and we had been throwing so many items that she had bought over the years without even opening the boxes (the items got old & musty so they were unusable to others .
Who studied that lesson? It appears that they did a 15 minute underlining session so that they would be able to hold their WT high and show their neighbor that they studied.

i believe william schnell was once told that the only way to get light from a wt was to set fire to it!.
did anyone say anything of an usual matter to you while you were on the doors?.
I did not say this but I was with this very large bro who made some strange comments to the householder. Keep in mind he was at least 6'6" and 300 pounds. In retrospect was also probably manic depressed.
I was with him on one of his "up" days. We talked to this little old lady who was just not interested but couldn't get this bro to stop talking. In the middle of the conversation he said to the poor old lady "I have so much love in me I want to pick up up and give you a big hug." she was visably shaken and finially was able to close the door on the two of us.
