Donate for worldwide work- did you ask ?
by sspo in.
it was much easier for me when we used to charge for literature than ask the householder if they wanted to contribute to the worldwide work.i was too embarassed.
that's why i just gave the literature away and not put them on the spot.. the witnesses that did ask the householder to contribute would usually never get a donation.. what was your experience?

I asked for at least the first few months. I got a dollar once. Other than that - nothing. I think I put the dollar in the contribution box, but I may not have.

Secret hideyholes in their homes/outbuildings/vehicles
I knew one JW who kept the Truth book in her safe deposit box (no bible though)
I remember one public talk where the speaker recommended that we hide some of the literature so that when the GT begins we have a secret stash to rely on.
He even suggested burying some literature. (I found that suggestion very odd).

I found wts wedged behind urinals in a men's restroom.
I always wondered why I never saw an experience in the Awake about the may who suddenly had the urge to go to the bathroom, and while peeing realized that he found the "truth." Certainly the holy spirit guides honest hearted folks to the truth.

Who is an Apostate?
by thirdwitness inhere is an interesting link http://www.tjdefendidos.org/ and here is an english translation of the article on that site about apostates testimony.
is the testimony of apostates reliable?
sometimes, the mass media offer testimonies of people who used to be jehovah's witnesses as a means of finding out more about our religion.

Until I read part of 3rdwit post I was proud to be an apostate. But I realize now that I am not a very good apostate because I don't live up to his criteria.
But I promise to do better.

Now wouldn't it be funny if he was in Heaven looking down at his family waving his arms and yelling "Don't believe the hype". hehe
If that is happening wouldn't that prove that it doesn't matter what you believe because you will end up with the same reward?

Concerning the Place of Women in the Congregation.
by Flash inmark 13: 14 (let the reader use discernment) .
question, is every thought and opinion contained in the bible a divine standard or command from god?
no, and our women have suffered as a result.

"What is it about that job or role that requires a penis?"
A penis AND testicles. LOLYour right though, when I used to go to the KH I knew a number of very qualified women that would make great Elders or CO's or DO's or anything else!
After sitting through numerous elders meeting that seemed to have no beginning or end I came to the conclusion that the only qualification some elders had was that they possessed a penis.

For those who feel that women should not have a leading role in the congregation please answer the following:
"What is it about that job or role that requires a penis?"

These posts and threads are extremely valuable.
One of the first things that I did when I re-examined my religious existance as a JW was to go throught the steps of trying to prove to myself what I was taught as truth. As a witness you are force fed a lot of stuff. The information that you are give is never sustatntiated by references. It is just fed to you as "the truth."
Force feeding propoganda as truth is not possible in this forum. Apologists that promote the wts teachings must attempt to prove at a much deeper level that is ever necessary at the local kingdom hall. There are two results from their work. Both results are positive.
In an attempt to prove the truth to others the Apoligist may discover that there is no substance to what they have been taught.
Readers who are in a state of flux related to their beliefs will read both sides of the arguement and be able to make a rational decision based upon the facts of what they read. They will never hear this information from a talk at the local hall. That fact alone should have an impact on what they eventually decide as to what is truth.

Finally! The Cure for Apostacy!
by V insoon to be reviewed in the watchtower study (july 15 2006, "focus on the goodness of jehovah's organization" page 22, paragraph 15).. this is not a joke!.
emanuel, for instance, was a witness who found fault with some things he read in publications of "the faithful and discreet slave.
" (matthew 24:45) he stopped reading our christian literature and eventually told the elders of the local congregation that he no longer wished to be one of jehovah's witnesses.

Within a short time, however, Emanuel came to realize that the teachings of Jehovah's organization were correct after all.
I cannot help but think that somethng is missing from the story. It probably goes like this
Within a short time, however, his family disowned him and he lost the social structure of his live and cam to realize that he was not able to make it on his own.
As a result, along with his regular Prozac medication, he is a happy again.
