Every witness has a "stack" of magazines. Every congregation has a "stack of non-moving literature. Even if the literature is "place," it probably is not read.
I remember one quote in a KM years ago that indicated that less than half of the r&f keep up with reading the mags.
What a waste of time and effort.

Why The Time Limit?
by Anitar inhi everyone, it's good to be back.
last thursday, as i lay on the couch stuffed full of turkey, i had the sudden idea for a discussion, and please forgive me if this has been asked before.. when my brother came back from college and we began to clean the apartment for the impending arrival of the rest of the family for thanksgiving dinner (my mom was of course not calling it that), he asked her why she had so many stacks of watchtower magazines everywhere.
they were all organized by date in zip lock bags, not including her bound volumes and study books.

To which she responded, she was not allowed to give away literature that was more than three years old. This no doubt led to many questions that I'm hoping someone can answer here
I never head the society make such a comment. However, this comment sounds like something a "local elder" would make.
But that still doesn't answer the question: why does she need five copies of each?

Gays Leave JWD!
by hambeak ini got a phone call from a person that i gave my phone # to.
and this person said that gays are not welcome here and this is not what this board was really about.
i told them that this is only one part of the crap that the wts did to people and that we are people too.

Ex jws and gays have a lot in common. While I was "coming out of the closet" with my beliefs I could relate to the experience of gays when they had to confront friends and family with their lifestyle.
Except for the occasional a**H*%$, most people on this board are repectful of other's lifestyles and beliefs.

Do you remember giving talks?
by klydia ini'm trying to remember the process for giving a talk.
i remember getting a slip with a topic on it, but what else was on that slip?
did it tell you what scriptures you should cite, or what book the talk was based on?

I remember when I was too small to see over the podium. The attendant would have to dismantle the podium so I could see the audience. That always embarassed me a little. I was so proud the first time I was tall enoughh to see over the podium.
As an adult I enjoyed giving talks. Some, not all, were very good. Towards the end I included some very subtle statements about my true belief system.

Would U Pray To God Under ANY Circumstances???
by minimus ineven if you say you're not a believer in "god", if something bad was happening, would you ever give it a shot, and ask (jehovah) god for help??
?

I cannot think of any circumstances where I would pray.
When I was at a crisis in my life when I discovered the truth about the "truth," I was too scared to pray. I was afraid of the answer. Since then I have moved on and so has god. God is doing just fine with out me and I am doing just fine without him.

Cheap-ass Watchtower tapes!
by Nosferatu ini recieved 4 tapes of kingdom melodies from lee (thanks lee!
) so, i shoved one into my tape deck so i could hear "stay awake, stand firm, grow mighty" for the first time in ten years (man, that sounds like a song about my penis).
however, i discovered that the pressure pads have gotten crusty and fell out of two of these tapes, and the cheap bastards at watchtower didn't put screws in their tapes so i could easily fix them!

I think every penis should have his own song. I forget the words to this song. But the title fits.

I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals.
What a jerk. There is so much to say.
Why didn't he cook any of those meals?
To say he can recall the menu does not say much for his memory skills
or
it may say a lot about his wife's cooking. May be he doesn't want to remember.
He is very ineffective in setting up a strawman.
