Did you/do you skip the meeting on Super Bowl Sunday?
by SnakesInTheTower inso tomorrow i hear there is some sort of big game on the tv.....rumors....can't trust 'em... .
how many of you skipped (or attended a different) sunday meeting to catch the game?.
especially if you had/have late afternoon/evening meeting (or any meeting depending on where in the world you are that would interfere with watching the game), ithink my old congo has an afternoon meeting now on sunday...dunno for certain, i don't go anymore.. i would be interested in hearing reports for those faders still stuck going to the meeting tomorrow morning if there was an inflated attendance with those who have later meetings playing hooky from their meeting (ie, more than one congo in building, or nearby congos with later meetings) and attending yours... .

Unbelievable!!!!. This is the best wt study I have ever sat through in 45 years of attending. Not only is is to the point, but it does not drone on for an hour.
Great job. Exactly on target. When the the bethel spies see this they will be quite upset.

Alarming statement in today's study article in WT...

" this in the context of a wt discussing the israelites' exodus from egypt and how jehovah had them into a position where there seemed "no way out".

The society increases their hold on the r&f with detailed instructions covering all of life's details. Then they say, see the instructions prove we are at the beginning of the gt.

CORMAC MCCARTHY may well be my favorite writer
by Terry in) never read fiction.. personal reasons.
i use to read a lot of fiction as a teenager, but, gave it up.
i had enough to do rearing 7 kids and having to indulge in life to make the trade-off of time required to keep up with fiction.. now, there has come an author who has stopped me dead in my tracks and changed all that and his name is cormac mccarthy.. he is some kind of genius with quirky style and a bottomless vocabulary and a penchant for storytelling that won't let me escape.. i first heard of mccarthy by reading the literary critic, harold bloom.

Thanks for the tip. I enjoy reading fiction and enjoy finding authors good enough to read multiple books. I am on my second Phil Roth book, The Human Stain. And I have read many of John Steinbecks books.
I watched the movie No country for Old men and noticed that the book is on the NYT best seller list. I will take your advice and put it on my next to read book

Crackdown on "sisters" volunteering at DCs
by dozy inthe wts has sent a letter to all convention overseers expressing their increasing concern at sisters "directing brothers" at district conventions.. with immediate effect (ie for dc 2008), sisters are no longer to be used as volunteers in parking and security / watchman departments.
any sisters volunteering in other departments (eg toilet cleaning) must be subordinate & follow the direction of appointed brothers.
this move will put a huge burden on the dcs in my area - nearly half the volunteers for parking are sisters and there aren't enough volunteers as it is.

This only makes sense if the requirement is to direct traffic with a penis.
