hi everyone well i have actually been in the chat room lots but this the first actual time i posted there isnt much to my story io am still a witness although it has been hard at times.
my dad and my step-mom are in the truth but i live with my real mom who is disfellowshiped.
i keep going to the meetings.

It's good that you're checking out the board.
You'll learn alot about the WTS.
Always remember, real truth can stand up to any investigation.
Any group that doesn't want their followers to investigate it
is hiding something.

it seems to me that many who have left the hive seem to want to do a sort of "anti-preaching", to proclaim the evils of the society, religion, whatever.
i agree that certain issues need to be made known to the public, but my question is about how we do it.
if we're preachy about it, how effective are we likely to be?
Hi Intro,
I think preaching is when someone is stating a certain viewpoint
with no room for differences of opinion.
I don't think people here, for the most part fit into that catagory.
As joelbear said, it's mostly people sharing their findings about the WTS.
And of course, we can discuss different aspects of the org. pro or con here.
That's something we were never alowed to do when we were part of it.

That because of what Jesus had done, mankind has been reconciled with God.
That Jesus died and rose again.
That He paid the price for all.
No matter what other good news is preached, without What Jesus had done,
it's all worthless.

i have two questions, mostly for commited christians, though i'm sure somehow, that others will reply too.. 1) does prayer change god or his mind?.
2) if not, why pray?.
i have my own opinion on the subject, but i may be adjusting my understanding of god.. have fun!.

Does prayer change God or His mind?
I think it can.
I think God wants us to come to Him in prayer.
I'm not talking about prayers that are repeated over and over again.
I'm talking about heartfelt,earnest prayer.
I think aproaching Him as someone who is really there and listening.
Talking or praying to Him as a real being. A freind.
Whether or not such prayer will change His mind,only He knows.
But I do think talking to God in prayer does have a possitive effect.

having been an infrequent visitor at best over the past few weeks, thought i'd write and let you know how i'm doing.. first of all, let me say thank you to all of you who have written to make sure i'm ok.. i was hoping not to develop a pregnancy migraine, but i got it.
i had it for almost a month with eden, and it's going on three weeks now.
i have barely been able to keep up with work.

im passionately opposed to the unscriptural practice of disfellowshipping.
i believe that it preys on mankinds worse fears of being left alone, an outcast, a pariah shunned by ones own tribe, a person so reprehensible that even ones very existence is left unacknowledged.
its certainly not the invention of a caring creator, and as for it being a loving act for the dfd one, please dont insult my intelligence.. that being said, i wonder whether or not disfellowshipping can actually be a refuge for the disillusioned witness?

I do think disfellowshipping can be a bonus if the person being disfellowshipped
spends his/her time to investigate the WTS.
I think the person that gets kicked out is less likely to remain loyal to the WTS
command not to get on the computer sites that deal with the WBTS.
However, it's not so much a bonus if that indiviual is really convinced that
the WTS is Gods org. and they have family trapped in it.
