Hello Defender,
Well written and thought out post.
Thanks,
neyank
the second article of discussion in this issue is titled: "moving ahead to final victory!".
the article starts to talk about christs enthronement as king and in paragraph one, along with an illustration of crowned jesus riding on a white horse, it states: "we today, have clear evidence that this foretold enthronement took place in 1914.. since watchtower article discussions are always a one way dialogue, where the society speaks and the rank and file just listens, it is easy to make assertions.
in a normal two way dialogue, when one says "i have clear evidence" for something, the other party will not just nod his head in agreement, but would rather demand to know and see what this clear evidence is and would want to proceed and examine it thoroughly.
Hello Defender,
Well written and thought out post.

i moved into a new area several months ago, and my subscriptions to the watchtower and awake magazines expired.
(note: i'm baaad, not attending meetings in my new area.).
so it'd be easy to renew my subscription, right?
Hi BugEyesWife,
You ask a good question.
And you make a valid point.
I can't answer for anyone else, but for me,I would like to see what
they are presently teaching.
I am always willing to discuss the WTS with people and
it's good to know what they are being taught.
Plus it's good to compare what they are being taught now,
and what they were teaching just a few years ago.

i'm just trying out the new password.

Hi Gopher,
I'm also trying to get a subscription to the mags.
No luck yet.
When you figure a way to do it let me know.

for me it was when i was about twelve years old and my best friends dad was disfellowshipped from the congregation.. i could not understand how a god of love would treat someone so coldly.. i used to think what if that was the way my parents would treat me if i had done something wrong, that would be so hard and cruel.. as i got older another thing that bothered me was the beard issue.
it may sound pretty trivial however the society has always refused to make a good arguement as to why they would give you the old cold shoulder if you were to grow one.. two more items; first i could not understand why all the congregations and all the assemblys would give income reports.
and the society never did.
That's an easy question to answer.
The different changes in their teachings.
If God is behind any orginization, there wouldn't be any need to change the teachings.
After all, God is perfect so therefore the instuction He would give would be perfect.
There wouldn't be any reason to change the teachings unless they came from
imperfect men.

some thoughts about jws who come here:.
i have been here for six months now.
in that time, i have noticed a certain pattern to the conduct of jws who come here and are true believers.
My my my,
Friday-yadirf is being rather touchy isn't he?
Ok yadirf. Oh heck. I'm going to call you friday. OK?
You are right. I am not a JW......NOW.
But I was a full fledged believing in the WTS JW when I started to investigate
the org. and their past teachings.
Someone said at one time, knowledge is power. And acurate knowledge can change lives.
Isn't this true?
Haven't you ever wondered why most JWs that find out the real truth about the WTS decide
not to remain with the org.?
It's because most honest hearted people cannot follow and believe a lie.
When a person is a JW because he/she loves God and wants to please Him and then finds out
that what they have been believing is NOT the truth, what should they do?
Should they continue with the WTS knowing that the WTS is not teaching the truth about God?
Or should they remove themselves from the WTS knowing that the org. is actually going against God
and teaching lies instead of truth?
How can you say that someone has returned to their own vomit when you don't know what the
circumstances are?
Do yourself a favor and read that scripture again. Notice that it's talking about returning to sin.
Are you saying that those that leave the WTS because the Org. has lied and decieved people
have returned to sinning?
I think your values are mixed up.
I think you better get back to reading the Bible without the WTS and see how the Org.
has shown that they are NOT Gods chosen orginization.

Ahem. Excuse me everyone.
What do you mean.
This board isn't for JWs?
But I'm a JW.
Alright. So I've been inactive for a few years.
And I don't believe the WTS is Gods chosen org.
And I think the WTS is a cult.
And I think they use control, fear and manipulation to
keep the rank and file in line.
And I think the fact that the WTS has claimed to speak
for God is an abonmination. (spl)
But other than that I'm a JW. (I think)
So I think this board is for JWs that want to discuss the WTS.
Of course not all of them want to know the negative aspects of the org.
But it's still a place for them to come.
Whether or not they like it here is another point.
