  My meeting yesterday

  so i just wanted to jot down some thoughts and feelings about my meeting yesterday.... first, the wt, paragraph 16. i couldn't help but laugh to myself at the blatant hypocrisy.

  god’s word admonishes us “to live with soundness of mind ... amid this present system of things.” (titus 2:12) having “soundness of mind,” or being sober-minded, should certainly come into play when the explanation of a diagnostic method or therapy seems strange or mysterious.

  can the practitioner or the one promoting it explain satisfactorily how it works?

  Paragraph 18 Says -- We cannot expect now to be cured miraculously. However, Revelation 22:1, 2 points to the time when we will be healed completely. The apostle John saw in vision “a river of water of life” and “trees of life” with leaves “for the healing of the nations.” This does not refer to any herbal remedy now or in the future. Rather, it points to Jehovah’s provision through Jesus for giving everlasting life to obedient mankind—truly something we can look forward to.

  But they forgot the Asterisk pointing to the footnote: * should read - User Soundness of Mind when reading the Bible or anything from the WatchTower.

  I can find NO evidence that Newton ever said this.

  
  Also at the time - how would it have been possible for Newton to know that there was a "proper" distance?
  
  "Principia" or any of his other writings did not deal with Solar Radiation - nor any musings on there being a "Goldilocks Zone?

  This quote only shows up on Pro Christian websites, and on sites where people are asking if he said it.

  for me, the dead giveaway is this.

  jesus wrote nothing.. stop and think about that.. if jesus were the authentic messiah, his ministry would not simply be local.. his instructions, his mission, the details of his teachings would be too precious to risk leaving it in the hands of "men unlettered (illiterate) and ordinary (blue-collar yokels).".

  jesus, were he the one and only hope of mankind, would be absolutely certain to write down with great simplicity and specificity the exact owner's manual necessary to rescue mankind.. never happened!.

  How about that Slavery is never condemned by jesus or any of his "disciples" nor are women talked about as being equal to men.

  I wonder if a few words from the son of god on those issues may have had any impact on the future suffering of billions of people?

  I guess making poor people feel good about being poor was more important at the time.

  watchtower teaches that soon there will be a huge development that will be a sign for jehovah's witnesses!

  5:3 the watchtower magazine, principle journal of jehovah's witnesses, writes.... however, just before that day of jehovah begins, world leaders will be saying “peace and security!” this may refer to one event or to a series of events.

  Kinda funny how someone (paul, or jesus for that matter) giving out info about the end of the world would be presenting such general and completely ambiguous warnings and signs. Hard to blame any christian religion for trying to make sense of the nonsensical.

  This is what happens when people take a work of fiction and try to make more of it that it is. Better off using Lord of the Rings as your guide to life.

  i was just reading through some posts and had a startling realization.. the comment that sparked this went something like this: why oh why when i started into this in 1989 did i not research the history of the wtbts?

  etc....... i too was studying and moving towards baptism around that same time.

  i got dunked in dec of 1990.. my thought.

  There already is little growth.

  Last year the org had a net gain of about 118,000.

  That is barely above population growth. Also much of number were kids of JW parents getting baptized. That is why we have the emphasis now (after over 100 years) that anyone not a toddler should be baptized (thank Tony the PTSD Morris.
