  Eisenhower used WT Bible when sworn into office

  joel rosenburg was on tv a few minutes ago talking about eisenhower's background.

  he mentioned that his father left the religion after the end of the world did not happen in 1914 and that his mother continued.

  then he mentioned that when he was sworn into office, he had his hands on a bible published by jehovah's witnesses.

  2nd amendment right ... where should it end?

  one thing i like to do to test a theory is to take things to extremes or to their logical conclusion to see if the premises still hold.

  very often, a claim that seems to make sense at a superficial level falls apart when you start to stretch it a little.. so let's play a game.. suppose the 2nd amendment is valid, that some "well regulated militia" really is necessary to hold the government to account.. obviously when this was drafted the government had access to the weapons of it's day which would be muskets!

  so muskets all round.

  The memorial beauty pageant

  since the memorial is coming up soon and its about time for me to go shopping for a new memorial ( aka easter) dress, i've realized what the memorial really is for us teenage girls, a beauty pageant!

  the memorial is the day i spend painting my nails, curling my hair, and carefully applying makeup because my mother says i have to "represent jehovah" and look my best.

  in reality its just to impress the newcomers and to compete with the other girls.

  Need confirmation: WT bought an entire mountain in China to mine the granite needed for new WT HQ

  someone asked for a second source on this, so i'm putting this out there to those who may have visited the new wt hq lately and know it to be true.

  i had read from others on the ex-jw subreddit that had taken a tour recently at wt hq, that they had been shown photos of a mountain in china, and told that this is where all of the granite is being mined from and shipped over to new york to use at the site of the new wt hq.

  apparently, it was cheaper for them to do this and have the local brothers in china mine it, then having to by tons upon tons of granite here in the usa, even wholesale.

  The story is crazy. There would be NO cost savings.

  Yea a Banned Religious group is going to start or buy a mining company in China to get some rocks cheep.

  No problems with the Chinese government, you just bribe them to get what you want.

  No problem getting skilled labor to run a mining company. We get the 32 underground JWs to work there from all over the country. And they can have Morning Text, and WT studies at lunch break.

  That sound just nuts, and made up.

  All the "brothers" in China are underground, and buying a mine would not be cheaper than buying granite which is just a commodity.

  By the way - Tons of granite is not a big number when you are talking about rocks.

  Amazing he has found rock solid evidence where thousands of accredited respected archaeologists and anthropologists have not.

  as a born-in jw, i never considered myself to be a fundamentalist.

  i always thought we were enlightened, progressive and not 'stuck in darkness' like all the other religions.. i was totally wrong.. as far as fundamentalists go, jw's are probably right up there amongst the front-runners.

  no, they do not stone people to death or go on religion-fuelled violent rampages but that's not what i'm talking about.

  Yet - all religions are Cults, it's just our type is one of the really bad ones since self determination is not allowed.

  could there be other characters to talk about with our kids?.

  2nd - it says "learn how to draw rahab".

  London111 - YES - it happens all the time, as if they were real photographs of real people!

  And the stories people make up when talking about them - OMG! It is so saddening that so many treat them like more than just illustration.

  AND!!! Why are all ancient people in JW media of all types ALWAYS SO WELL DRESSED AND GROOMED!

  These are people who had NO scissors to cut hair, and almost NEVER bathed, and were in dust ALL THE TIME!

  Today they would not allow Rahab in the Kingdom Hall!
