I would say parts of my life were.
Now I have 2 amazing daughters which was a major reason we left instead of just perpetually being a PIMO.Being in for about 5 decades meant losing out on the life I should have had.
Has meant losing just about all my friends I thought I had.I am messed up in many ways because of the cult.
I think the hardest is having really believed in Everlasting life, and now knowing I will die really die in a few decades.Because of the 2 kids I have that are my world, I would not redo my life if I could though.

ANY outside quote is suspect, and if you ever see (...) in a quote, you know the have misquoted the person.

Should private citizens be allowed to video record law enforcement?
by Fisherman ini saw an article in the news yesterday that laws are going to be passed subjecting the police to being recorded by anyone while performing their duty or enforcing the law and encourages citizens to sue if they interfere.
some law enforcement agents become angry and confiscate recording devices from people recording them while making an arrest, etc.. it does seem that the work that the police and other government agents do is public and not private or confidential so there should be nothing to hide from the cameras.
on the other hand, how can one distinguish being shot by a camera or by a weapon until one is hit?.

I had a conversation about it with a VERY IN family member.
Just pointed out that it's not a religious or opinion based thing.
All you have to do is Google the quotes to find them in their original document, and see for your self, but that the GB knows that JWs won't do it.

we still get regular calls by elders - at least every 2 weeks.

by doubtfull1799 ininspired by this weeks clam article which again "reminds" the brothers pdf their obligation/privilege to donate "voluntarily" i have complied a list of articles or videos in the last 5 years where donations are indeed solicited or encouraged.
the society may argue that these are not actual solicitations because no plate was passed around.
but a donation box is just a more discrete and subtle version of the plate.

Do you or did you experience too much intrusion into your personal life by the elders in your congregation?
by UnshackleTheChains ini ask this question because i have personally experienced first hand the control and intrusion into my personal life by the elders at our hall; and for virtually trivial things or non issues!
what's more, i regularly hear of individuals moving to other halls because they were stumbled by the thought police....er, i mean these elders.. have you had any such experience?
have your elders been a bit ott over trivialities?.

When I was an MS, there were 2 elders who during their shepherding calls were asking couples if they were having oral or anal sex. You know cuz doG hates that. Where a mouth or penis goes is very important to him.
Well, word got back to the P.O. who was a good guy, and shut that down quick.
It seemed that one of the brothers was out trolling for potential sisters to screw, while the other one had other issues. The first elder wound up shacking up with a sister, got divorced, moved away, and sadly came to a bad end.
