Addressing life's big questions
by nelim insomething else i noticed in the awake 2016.2 magazine: very interesting that on page 6 and 7 "life's big questions" they basically pose two:1. science ... cannot define sexual morality.2.
science ... cannot make moral decisions on the embryo’s right to life.but actually, science can: it's called ethics, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ethics.
kant introduced some interesting concepts how to think about what should be morally right, see deontology.more interesting though for me here is why these two?

Awake 2016.2 experience
by nelim inhi all, what do you think about the experience on page 4 of 2016.2 awake?.
maria, who is one of jehovah’s witnesses, was publicly insulted by a prejudiced woman, who caused quite a commotion.
but instead of retaliating, maria calmly continued on her way.

Sir82 - I know from my experience that many of the experiences you hear are distorted. I have been part of a number of them in which the CO made them actually change the experience to fit what he wanted. -

All these experiences are either made up BS or completely inflated or taken out of context to seem amazing!

To me this seams like more than a coincidence ...
by Greybeard insorry if this has been discussed before.... for a few days now, this question has been going through my mind.
what was the date the governing body took the sole role of the faithful and discreet slave and how close was it to the end of the mayan calendar in december of 2012?
i looked it up on jwfactes.com and sure enough, checkout the date on this article:.

you know the Myan calendar didn't end there! They believed in cycles, and It would be the beginning of the next cycle.
UG!! Let's talk about Leprechauns and JFK and 911 and UFO building the pyramids too!

elders wife swapping question
by unstopableravens ini hear of these stories of elders swapping wives, i remember when i was young hearing of three elders in florida doing this and getting dfed.
my question is this how is it possible to bring this up in conversation?
it seems impossible, how can there be multi elders that know each other willing and the wives?

Who is your favourite thinker?
by The Rebel inhaving recently read orwells 1984, i was impressed with how he understood that both politicians and people abuse language.
this further confirmed to me how the w.t had deceived me by using words to distort reality.
the book 1984, also contains many other great thoughts of george orwell.. of course there have been many other great thinkers, buddah, darwin, freud, einstein and marx come to mind.

You are right about Orwell and 1984 - its like the WT used it as a playbook.
If you liked that the other 2 classics are a must read as well. Brave New World and Fahrenheit 451 - EX JWs can relate to all of them.A) LONG LONG LIST. Einstein, Ray Franz, Carl Sagan, Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Bradbury, Orwell... (forgot Newton)
B) It helps a great deal, but many of the all time greats did it on their own and at an early age. I think us average thinkers:) are carried on the waves of what we pick up from the greats.

I stopped a few years ago - i also refused to wear the stupid JW pins everyone was making and giving out. I chucked 5 of them in the trash when a brother gave them to me for the family.
